JOB SUMMARY
The Controller is responsible for the accounting, finance and financial planning functions of the NCH Healthcare System. The Controller is responsible for all financial reporting, internal and external, for the system. In addition, the Controller is responsible for the annual system budget, treasury function, cost reports, AHCA reports, annual tax returns, and annual independent audits. Areas of responsibility include corporate, hospitals, physician group, and joint venture companies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned.
· Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation within areas as assigned.
· Supervises the preparation of the monthly financial statements for the system.
· Supervises completion of annual operating, capital and FTE budgets for the system.
· Supervises completion of all required external financial reports for NCH.
· Supervises completion of all tax returns.
· Utilizes the data to make relevant comparisons concerning departmental performance both inside and outside the system. Results are used to make changes in order to continually improve on the quality of patient care and services we provide. Works with other department directors to assist them in the use of relevant benchmarking data.
· Responsible for insuring monthly reconciliations are performed and internal controls are established and adequately followed to insure assets are safeguarded.
· Supervises the completion of all rating material for Moody's and Fitch.
· Maintains a current knowledge of developments in reimbursement and the accounting profession that will affect the financial reporting of the NCH Healthcare System. Communicates such knowledge to staff.
· Supervises the annual third party independent audit.
· Responsible for Treasury Management which includes reporting and oversight of the Investment Committee activity.
· Implements changes needed to compensate for legislative action.
· Participates in all capital financing activities of the system.
· Prepares financial information for Certificates of Need.
· Participates in business planning for the system.
· Understands the confidential nature of the work performed in the Accounting department and works to protect such confidentiality. Inform and advises only appropriate personnel when necessary when dealing with sensitive/confidential issues.
· Supervises Accounts Payable, general accounting, and Payroll functions.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of Bachelor's Degree required, CPA highly preferred.

The Staff Accountant will work directly with the Controller and assist with the month-end close process and various day-to-day aspects of accounting. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing sales invoices, collection, and cash application processes of the customers and dealers. Responsibilities:
Review invoices, payment requests, and supporting documents to ensure proper approvals are obtained and tie out to the general ledger (daily).
Follow up on, collect and apply customer payments.
Monitor customer account details for non-payment, delayed payment, and other irregularities (credit card errors/denials); research and resolve payment discrepancies.
Generate A/R aging analysis, review and ensure timely collections.
Follow established procedures for processing receipts, cash, etc.
Process credit card payments and apply to customers account in ERP system.
Communicate with customers via phone, email, mail or in person.
Generate various analysis / KPI reports for management (i.e., discounts lost / taken).
Month-end journal entries related to accruals (utilities, credit card fees, etc.).
Cross-train in check runs, invoicing, and other duties as deemed necessary by management.
Support weekly check runs by entering vouchers timely and accurately.
Review supporting documents and approve or deny Positive Pay exceptions.
Follow established procedures for processing daily banking activity.
Work with sales team and management to complete bank floor planning with dealers and accurate invoicing.
Perform monthly close and run reports in ERP system, as needed.
Work with Purchasing Card Holders to ensure transactions have correct receipts and coding.
Generate various analysis / KPI reports for management.
Assist other areas of accounting and office management personnel, as needed.

Bachelor's degree with emphasis in accounting or finance required
Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance at an industrial manufacturing company

ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Assistant Global Corporate Controller is a critical and highly visible role within NielsenIQ. The position directs the accounting policies and procedures of the organization and ensures that the Company is in compliance with United Stated generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP).
This position will work and correspond with multiple domestic and international business partners to lead the global accounting close and consolidation procedures as well as directly oversee financial responsibility for the Corporate Accounting group. This position will be responsible for collaborating proactively with the Company's external reporting process owner(s) to ensure compliance with the Company's lenders and the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") and other governmental bodies, including but not limited to the Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8K filings, for purposes of ensuring financial data is collected completely and aggregated to meet reporting needs. It will also be responsible for providing technical accounting guidance and training to the global organization, and ensuring the Company's accounting positions are appropriate, thoroughly communicated, and in compliance with the established accounting framework.
This role will also oversee the more technical accounting matters including goodwill impairment, purchase accounting, derivatives, pensions and other non-standard transactions as well as tracking of Non-GAAP compliance and will work closely with other stakeholders, functions within the enterprise and third-party specialists to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financial numbers in these various areas. This role will be involved in reviewing and analyzing the consolidated financial results and position of the Company as well as implementing corrections or improvements when required. Oversight of financial controls design and operating effectiveness will also be a key element of this role. The role will have primarily responsibility for overseeing the external audit and coordinating with internal audit. Special projects will be supported as required.
The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of US GAAP and experience in
consolidated financial reporting with a strong acumen for technical accounting. S/he will have a strong background in all areas of accounting, to include general ledger, monthly financial closing, and management of business reviews. In addition to technical expertise in the field, the successful Assistant Global Corporate Controller is able to deliver results under tight deadlines. KEY ACTIVITIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES

· Lead the global financial closing process ensuring timeliness and accuracy of Global financial and management reporting and the integrity and compliance of all financial and regulatory reporting, controls, processes and systems
· Ensures that Company financial records are maintained in compliance with Company policies, US GAAP and SEC reporting. Responsible for monitoring through analytical and account reconciliation reviews to ensure this compliance.

Qualifications

· Proven ability to lead and motivate teams; achieving organizational focus on key priorities, providing clear direction, delegating, actively communicating and coaching/mentoring to achieve a high-performing team. Preferably with a medium to large international organization

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Complete the following accounting functions, including but not limited to:
General Ledger Entries
Completion and review of balance sheet reconciliations
Completion of financial and regulatory financial statements
Development and implementation of systems and procedures to maintain proper financial records.
Contributes to the overall profitability of the department and Bank; implements cost controls and monitor expenses to ensure compliance with budget.
Assists other branches and department offices in resolving accounting inquiries.
Assists in ensuring accurate completion of related financial reports initiated by the Bank's accounting department along with internal reports.
Develops, tests and implements policies and procedures (manual and computerized) pertaining to the maintenance of accurate accounting records and report preparation.
Gathers and calculates data associated with the preparation of various routine and special financial statements and reports; reviews documentation for accuracy and completeness; highlights critical areas of the documentation for management's review; and presents and explains reports and documentation to senior management.
Gathers and calculates financial information; responsible for the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual tax reports to the federal and state government; and ensures reporting is made in compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Assists in preparing annual budget projections based on input from executives; reviews expenditures to ensure compliance with budgets; and notifies appropriate executive(s) in the event expenditures exceed budgets.
Maintains advanced knowledge and awareness of financial industry status and trends.
Responds to inquiries or refers inquiries to the appropriate department or person and exhibits the necessary follow-through with customers and/or staff involved.
Monitors staff in daily tasks, operations and quality control; ensures the organization of assigned areas of the department, coordinating available resources (e.g., staff, materials, etc.) for maximum results.
Assists in implementing cost controls for the department and monitors expenses to ensure compliance with budget.
Applies superior decision-making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals and requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures, keeping within assigned approval limits and using these instances as learning tools for employee development.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree from a college or university; or related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be applicable to the financial industry.
CPA license preferred or in process of obtaining license in next 18 months
Intermediate knowledge of general accounting, payroll, budgeting, and related accounting and record keeping systems in a financial institution.
Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and Bank accounting policies and procedures.
Intermediate skills related to the consolidation and reporting of Bank financial results, and formulation and implementation of Bank accounting procedures.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Basic knowledge of human resource and labor laws and policies.
Superior skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; host computer system; word processing, spreadsheet and specialty software programs.
Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
Advanced math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence and procedures, speak clearly to customers and employees.
Thorough understanding of management procedures; ability to plan department or Bank activities (setting objectives, developing strategies, budgeting, and developing policies and procedures); initiative to organize various functions necessary to accomplish department or Bank activities; effectively staff (selecting, training and developing employees); directing employees towards the desired objectives (delegating, motivating, resolving problems); controlling the function (developing performance standards, measuring results, taking corrective action and rewarding employees as appropriate).

Specific tasks involve:
• Prepare or review monthly closing for multi-entities which includes monthly journal entries, preparing supporting workpapers, and review general ledger.
• Assist in multi-entity tax projections which includes complex entity flow through structures for Partnerships and S-Corporations also including inside/outside basis calculations, minimum gain calculations, and a strong understanding of sections 704 (b), 704 (c), and 754.
• Assist in beneficial ownership reporting for new syndications by analyzing capital stack on a preferred and common basis of blended ownership percentages.
• Communicate complex ownership structures to lenders as it relates to beneficial ownership.
• Responsible for entity setup, bank account setup, and maintenance within accounting software (Spectrum).
• Identify and resolve intercompany discrepancies in a multi-entity environment.
• Create and refine accounting processes and procedures to improve workflow efficiency.
• Responsible for investor portal setup (AppFolio Investment Management) for new syndications which includes interpreting operating agreements to setup entity capital stack, cash waterfalls, capital calls & distributions.
• Coordinate with cash management team to execute cash movement in banking platform and to properly record in accounting software (Spectrum).
• Maintain and update loan reporting checklists by interpreting loan documents and coordinating delivery of financial information to lenders.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience, software implementation/conversion experience is a plus.
• Solid understanding of tax allocations and tax capital accounts for complex entity structures during operations and liquidation events.
