Job Summary: A CAD Designer is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings, plans, and schematics using specialized computer software. Job Responsibilities: * CAD Design and Drafting: Utilize CAD software, mostly 2D AutoCAD, to create and modify detailed technical drawings, schematics, layouts, and plans for fire safety systems. This includes fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, emergency evacuation plans, and other fire safety-related projects. * Collaboration with Engineers and Design Teams: Work closely with fire safety engineers, designers, and project managers to understand project requirements and translate conceptual ideas into practical CAD designs. * Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain an organized record of all CAD drawings, revisions, and updates related to fire safety projects. In addition to drawings, Component Data sheets, Technical Manuals, Certs, and other Contract Data Requirements will be completed as needed. Ensure that the documentation is accurate and accessible for future reference and compliance purposes. * Quality Control: Perform thorough reviews of CAD drawings to identify any errors or discrepancies. Verify that all design elements are in line with project specifications and industry standards. * Design Optimization: Suggest improvements and modifications to enhance the efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness of fire safety system designs. Work towards creating innovative and practical solutions for various fire safety challenges. * Compliance and Regulation Adherence: Stay up to date with fire safety codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure that all CAD designs meet the required safety guidelines and comply with local, regional, and national regulations is a plus but not required. * Other duties as assigned. We are currently seeking a Design Checker to join the Drafting and Design Department. We specialize in Air Pollution Control Systems primarily in power plants, paper mills, and refineries, with complete capabilities to engineer, design, fabricate, and erect Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs), Baghouses, Support Structures, Boiler Buildings, Ductwork, Access, and related components. Responsibilities * Check drawings for heavy industrial structures, mechanical componentry, stiffened platework, support steel, and access. * Review field erection and shop fabrication detail drawings for accuracy versus design drawings. * Analyze specifications, design data, sketches, and related engineering drawings. * Verify critical factors and dimensional accuracy. * Confer with engineering and design staff to assist in resolving design issues. * Check field erection and shop drawings generated by others. * Conduct site surveys and equipment inspections. * Travel as required, no more than 2-6 trips per year, with each trip being about 2-3 nights away. In this role you will: * Serve as the sole CAD Designer in the LCPY for the Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC), the Ship to Shore Connector (SSC), and Landing Craft, Utility (LCU) 1700 programs. * Develop and revise installation and alteration drawings for the LCAC Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) and other ongoing availabilities, Craft Change Documents (CCDs), and Liaison Action Requests (LARs). * Develop new Ship's Selected Record Drawings (SSRDs) for the LCU 1700 class. * Assist mechanical and electrical engineers in their review of technical documentation. * Develop standard templates and CAD processes for the engineering team. * Maintain a 3-D CAD (SolidWorks) model database for LCAC 100 (SSC). * Maintain workload and respond to tasking within the schedule and technical requirements identified in the Integrated Data Environment (IDE). * Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
