About the Position:
As a Security Officer, you will ensure a positive customer experience by ensuring a safe and secure environment for all. You are responsible for addressing disruptive or offensive behavior, unsafe conditions, and minimizing theft of library property.
Position Schedule
Monday-Thursday 1:00pm-9:30pm
Every Sunday 10:00am-6:30pm
What You'll Do:
Patrols buildings and grounds at regular intervals and appropriately handles observed irregularities or problems. Prevents theft of Library property and follows all issued post orders.
Uses non-violent crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to diplomatically confront people engaged in disruptive, offensive or inappropriate behavior; suspends from property as necessary.
Ensures a positive customer experience by greeting customers, answering directional questions and participating in organization-wide initiatives/special events.
Responds to, investigates, and reports any safety hazard, security incident, parking enforcement or emergency, including reviewing CCTV footage as needed.
Ensures that the building is secure at closing and that all staff and customers depart safely. Completes issued closing checklist daily.
Maintains a professional appearance by keeping uniform in good condition and promptly reporting uniform needs to Security management.
Carries all necessary equipment in working order while on duty and promptly reports equipment needs to Security management.
Collaborates with law enforcement on public safety issues. Files police reports and appears in court as needed.
Assists in emergency response drills and other training throughout the year.
Assists with testing and validation of security equipment (lockdown buttons, alarm panels, panic buttons, security cameras, etc.) as needed.
Assists physically challenged customers entering or leaving library facilities, including as part of emergency evacuations.
Renders first aid in medical emergencies. Contacts trained medical professionals as appropriate.
Documents incidents in the reporting software according to guidelines.
Brings serious issues or those with significant risk to Security and location management for awareness and resolution.
Serves as on-call Officer or fills in as Dispatcher as needed.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Experience or training in security, public safety, public service, corrections, youth services or a combination thereof, preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to carry and use Oleoresin Capsicum (OC or pepper spray) upon receiving necessary training and in appropriate situations.
Upon receiving necessary training, ability to respond quickly, effectively and appropriately when it is clear that the physical safety of staff and/or customers is endangered.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings, willing to carry a cellular telephone as directed by management for response to library emergencies and service requests. Work schedule includes rotational on-call duties.
Must have the ability to actively patrol (on foot) and use stairs throughout the duration of their shift and to quickly respond to incidents.

About the Position:
As a Ready for Kindergarten Outreach specialist, you support the Ready for Kindergarten (R4K) Strategy through outreach to preschools and daycares. Additionally, you are responsible for presenting structured R4K Classes at centers throughout Franklin County, sharing lesson plans with teachers and engaging children in kindergarten readiness activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintaining lawns by planting, cultivating, fertilizing and watering grass, cut grass using hand or power mowers, cultivate, prune, transplant, fertilize and water shrubbery, hedges and tress, grade and prepare soil for planting, plant and maintain flower beds.
Maintain University grounds in clean neat condition by removing leaves, fallen branches, and other rubbish from lawns, walks, parking lots and drives.
Watch for pests, disease, weeds, and other deteriorating agents and take necessary steps for their eradication.
Maintain football field, baseball diamond and other athletic fields by rolling, aerating, trimming, grading, watering and striping as required.
Clean, maintain and control tools and equipment assigned to this department.
Move and set-up furniture and equipment as required by other University departments.
Remove snow from building entrances, walks, parking areas and driveways, including deicing.
Supervise and train other grounds workers, unskilled labor and students in accomplishing maintenance of the campus grounds.
Assist supervisors in planning and estimating time and material requirements for various projects.
Assist other University employees in the performance of duties as required to meet University priorities and as directed.
Monitor supplies and in cooperation with supervision insure that proper stock levels of essential materials are maintained.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise grounds workers and student workers assigned to the Grounds Crew. May be assigned to supervise other crafts workers in moving furniture or making set-ups.
QUALIFICATIONS
Possess and maintain valid Ohio driver's license. Ability to pass University defensive driving certification course.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Enforcement: Officers will enforce all local, state and federal criminal laws, as well as University judicial rules and regulations; traffic and parking regulations; officers will obtain warrants, apprehend, arrest, search, pat down, handcuff, pursue, physically secure resisting suspects with the appropriate amount of force. Patrol: Officers will patrol on foot, in motor vehicles including University owned golf carts. They will protect persons and property and provide assistance as needed. Operation and Maintenance of Police and Campus Equipment: Officers will correctly maintain and safely operate patrol vehicles, and all departmental equipment including but not limited to: firearms, tasers, pepper spray, batons, handcuffs, radios, computers, copiers, fax machines, telephones, and first aid equipment. Officers will also correctly operate the campus emergency notification system, the Clery notification system, all panic alarm systems, fire panel systems, WOCC TV system, and camera system on campus.
