A Day in the Life:
The Academic Coach provides direct support to students by assisting in building their knowledge, skills, and confidence in pursuing fields of study. The Academic Coach is an onsite non-exempt position who reports to the Academic Coordinator.
This position operates in a highly scheduled environment but may require longer hours and occasional weekend work and minimal travel as job duties demand. The Academic Coach position involves a low physical demand.

Coach students in the practice of executive functions for managing and completing coursework

Assist students in following through on individual academic plans using each student's academic goals, strengths and challenges
Facilitate executive functioning and social skills learning through teachable moments in academic environments
Facilitate study groups and academic assistance appointments with students, providing individualized academic needs
Tracks student achievement in classes throughout the term on assignments and exams, and records information in the students academic file
Communicate and submit student progress to Academic Coordinator for reporting to the Team Review Process, in the areas of goal progress, grades, and other benchmark data
Attend student meetings and events as needed
Assist students to develop, follow through and modify their academic plan
Advise students on communication (disclosure, clarification, nonverbal, hidden messages) with instructors and support services

Qualities You Possess:
The Academic Coach will possess exceptional communication skills, precise attention to detail, superior organization and prioritization skills and self-motivation in managing tasks to completion. They will have genuine empathy and awareness of the needs and sensitivities of prospective families, students, and staff.
Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise:
Associates degree (or in pursuit of) from an accredited institution in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field is required. Bachelors degree is strongly preferred.
1+ years related experience or training
Education or training in educational approaches, methods, and supports for persons with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other learning differences
Experience in the field of autism and/or learning disabilities
Special education and/or career services or placement background, particularly at the higher education level
Active Drivers License is required.

Job Compensation
Nueva provides a competitive salary/stipend based on the practice and game schedule and the coaching assignment (Head Coach vs Assistant Coach). The overall stipend range is $1,200-$3,000. The salary is based upon, but not limited to, coaching/participation experience, licensing, certification, and overall education/knowledge in the sport.
Additional driving stipend available. Nueva pays between $50.00 to $100.00 per trip with a daily maximum of $100.00 per day. School vans are provided.
