Louisville City School District is seeking candidates for Head Girls Middle School Cross Country Coach. Candidates should have cross country experience and be able to instruct student athletes. Qualified candidates must demonstrate the ability to cultivate a culture focused on academics, athletic excellence and moral character. They should possess effective organizational skills, be committed to being a positive role model, and be willing to assist the varsity cross country coaching staff as needed.

Responsibilities: *Assumes responsibility for the team at the middle school level. *Attends activities and scouting assignments as assigned by the Head Coach. *Is responsible for the organization and supervision of his/her coaching staff in teaching the fundamentals of interscholastic sports. *He/she also has these further duties: - Directs the work and assignment of his/her assistant coaches with the approval of the Athletic Administrator. -Safeguards the physical well-being of all participants. -Controls his/her behavior and that of his/her team at practices and games, since he/she is the person most instrumental in crowd control. -Informs all athletes of the guidelines, conduct code, policies and procedures of the department and the OHSAA. -Is financially responsible for all equipment in his/her inventory. Equipment issued must be accounted for at the end of the season. -Along with other coaches, is expected to cooperatively supervise the locker room and team area. -Coaches are expected to be at their area of practice at all times and must be present in the locker room until all athletes have gone from the area. At no time are the athletes to be in an unsupervised area. -Is responsible for special courtesies shown to officials and visiting teams. Officials and visiting teams should be shown to their dressing rooms. -Arranges for storage at the conclusion of the season- all jackets, sweaters, shoes, hats and any other coaching staff equipment purchased by the athletic fund. -Attends all Athletic Department meetings unless excused by the Athletic Administrator. -Is in attendance at all interscholastic contests involving his/her team, at home or away, unless there is an extenuating circumstance. -Keeps expenditures within the budget. -Is cognizant of the tremendous influence coaches and sports have on athletes. The Head Coach must approach the task of coaching at all times with the thought in mind that what one says and does, both desirable and undesirable, has tremendous consequence upon the actions and reactions of the young adults. -Secures athletic scholarships for deserving seniors. *Assists in the planning of special events such as assemblies, Homecoming, pep rallies, banquets, etc. *Serves as an advisor to the players on his/her squad to help them with problems .Is interested and loyal to the school's program. *The coach is expected to support the entire program, encouraging athletes to participate in other sports, and to be an active participant in striving to improve the athletic program as well as the total educational program of the schools. *Performs other coaching-related duties as directed by the Principal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Coaching/mentoring: * Assists the head coach to communicate goals, expectations, and accountability to help maintain high standard of performance, ethics, and sportsmanship on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. * Create a relationship built on the sincere interest in each student-athletes' academic, athletic, and personal pursuits. * Collaborate with other college staff when/if necessary. * Assists with the process to plan, organize and facilitate individual and team training and competition. * Assists in the coordination of travel arrangements. * Assists in completion and processing of paperwork as requested. * Works cooperatively with personnel in the athletic department, attends department meetings and activities as needed, and always represents the University in a positive manner when interacting with the community, alumni, coaches, the media and the general public. * Educates and mentors student athletes in all aspects of their holistic development; mind, body and spirit. * Establishing an environment that supports and promotes academic excellence in student-athletes * Study and implement strategy and skills needed to prepare for competition. * Learn, know, and abide by NCAA Division II rules and regulations. * Lead in a way that positively reflects the mission and vision of the institution. * Adhere to rules, guidelines and principles set forth by the Rugby East Conference * Failure to comply by NCAA II rules will be grounds for discipline and/or termination. * Assists the head coach and staff to plan, communicate, create, and model the same expectations as the head coach. * Other duties: * Establish and maintain an alumni relationship. * Be creative and willing to fundraise to support operating budget. * Other duties as assigned or required This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) of this position. Must be accepted/enrolled in a Walsh University graduate program and remain in good standing in the program Work Experience: Experience as a high school or college player, coach, or other significant experience relative to the sport of rugby Skills and abilities: * Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty. Positive attitude a must. * First Aid, CPR, AED certification required. * Valid Driver's license * Ability to lead under pressure and in difficult situations Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, indoor and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead. * Ability to work collaboratively with game day operations. * Ability to think critically and problem solve * Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours. * Must be able to handle and communicate over loud noises in gymnasium/indoors/outdoors; whistles, crowd noise; yelling and screaming. * Maintain emotional control under stress.
