Work will be performed both inside and outside at district public parks, and/or on San Juan Unified School District sites. The main program component is coaching the teams, but it may also include officiating the meets or working the meets as needed. Program, practice, and game times vary, but employees are expected to regularly work evenings and weekends.

At the option of the appointing authority persons hired into this class may be required to either possess at entry or obtain within specified time limits designated licenses, certifications or specialized education and training relevant to the area of assignment.

Supports students in setting and planning goals, including areas of improving physical activity and sleep habits.
Instructs on essential life skills such as stress management, time management and problem-solving.
Provides guidance on coping skills for youth, including behavior activation, recognizing thinking patterns, using distraction strategies, and regulating emotions.
Facilitates small group sessions aimed at improving wellness and life skills, with a focus on social-emotional skills, stress management, time management, organization and problem-solving.
Recognizes and identifies potential risks and refers to identified on-site behavioral health providers. Follows established protocols when addressing risk within the school or broader organizational setting.
Documents activities related to all services provided and submits within designated timelines.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of an Associate's Degree from an accredited community college.
Must have a minimum of 6.5 months of related work or field experience providing direct pre-clinical behavioral health services to children and youth through age 25 in school-linked/school-based organizations, non-profits, community organizations, and/or health centers/clinics within the last 6 years. These services should align with the Certified Wellness Coach scope as necessary for certification.
Must have a current California Certified Wellness Coach Certification.
Must have basic knowledge and understanding of the English language, being able to demonstrate that they can effectively communicate with students and stakeholders.
Must be proficient at using a computer and Microsoft Office suite.
POSITION/SITE REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a reliable mode of transportation to travel to assigned client homes, schools, offices, etc. If personal vehicle is the mode of transportation, must meet Agency's driving requirements.
Must be physically and mentally fit in accordance with the Agency's Policy: Physical Fitness Standards and Examinations. Must be willing to complete a Tuberculosis (TB) test and drug screening test.
Must be willing to complete a personal background investigation conducted by the State of California.
Must obtain First Aid Certification. Must obtain a CPR Certification (only when required by local county or site).
Must be willing to work within a culturally integrated workplace and be willing to respect human differences based upon protected classes as defined by state, federal and local laws, or any other condition that distinguishes people from one another.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Have an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in a school, office or outdoor community environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), alternating between standing and sitting for extended periods of time, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching balancing and occasional carrying and lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently.
Physically able to walk up and down stairs routinely.
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in a vehicle to travel to assigned schools, office or other assigned locations which may be up to 100 miles driving distance.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated by the Athletic Director in accordance with provisions on evaluation of professional personnel and this .
Essential Functions
STUDENT ATHLETES
Lead athletes to grow in mind, spirit, and body. Remember our mission is to develop Christian growth and leadership.
Provide recommendations for off season training and camp.
Manage the balance of developing fitness and skill with beginners.
Advise athletes in their pursuit of athletic goals.
Teach the basic skills and the more complicated skills of the sport.
PRACTICES
Develop and supervise regular practices in- -season, unless games prevent it.
Work with A.D. to develop practice schedule before season begins. Practice schedule must be approved by the A.D. and submitted to school office for publication.
Notify A.D. of any changes to practice schedule at least 48 hours in advance. In case of cancellation due to emergency, the school office must be notified along with the A.D.
In cases of inclement weather, confer with A.D. about time change or cancellation.
Check practice facility/field before and after each practice for cleanliness and order.
Remain at facility/field at end of practices until all players have left.
GAMES
Dress professionally
Be present on campus for game- -day early dismissals of student athletes. Ensure athletes are dismissed in a timely and quiet manner.
Coordinate team pre- -game activities/conduct and supervise pre- -game warm- -ups.
Coach during the game with intensity, encouragement, and professionalism. Your character will be remembered long after the score.
COMMUNICATION
Provide contact information (phone and email) to parents if necessary.
Assist in communicate game times, locations, and expectations to student athletes in a regular and timely manner.
Assist in establishing expectations with team captain(s) and players at the beginning of the season.
ADMINISTRATION
Assist in providing equipment/uniform requests to A.D. before the season as needed.
Meet with A.D. regularly throughout the season and at the end of season to evaluate performance and program needs as needed.
