Responsibilities: *Assumes responsibility for the team at the middle school level. *Attends activities and scouting assignments as assigned by the Head Coach. *Is responsible for the organization and supervision of his/her coaching staff in teaching the fundamentals of interscholastic sports. *He/she also has these further duties: - Directs the work and assignment of his/her assistant coaches with the approval of the Athletic Administrator. -Safeguards the physical well-being of all participants. -Controls his/her behavior and that of his/her team at practices and games, since he/she is the person most instrumental in crowd control. -Informs all athletes of the guidelines, conduct code, policies and procedures of the department and the OHSAA. -Is financially responsible for all equipment in his/her inventory. Equipment issued must be accounted for at the end of the season. -Along with other coaches, is expected to cooperatively supervise the locker room and team area. -Coaches are expected to be at their area of practice at all times and must be present in the locker room until all athletes have gone from the area. At no time are the athletes to be in an unsupervised area. -Is responsible for special courtesies shown to officials and visiting teams. Officials and visiting teams should be shown to their dressing rooms. -Arranges for storage at the conclusion of the season- all jackets, sweaters, shoes, hats and any other coaching staff equipment purchased by the athletic fund. -Attends all Athletic Department meetings unless excused by the Athletic Administrator. -Is in attendance at all interscholastic contests involving his/her team, at home or away, unless there is an extenuating circumstance. -Keeps expenditures within the budget. -Is cognizant of the tremendous influence coaches and sports have on athletes. Assist in scheduling the non-conference games for varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams. Make sure that O.H.S.A.A. tournament games take precedence, then conference games, and thirdly, non-conference games; re-schedule non-conference games only if it can be done easily by both schools. Responsible for assisting in obtaining assistant coaching positions. Selecting a squad will be the final decision of the coach or coaches. Be responsible for the information in the Athletic Handbook and see that all assistants are also aware of this material. Be responsible for the distribution and collection of all uniforms and equipment. Inform athletic director when difficulties arise. Carry required emergency forms for all players, scorekeepers and managers for all practices and games. Responsible for physical cards, emergency medical authorization forms and code of conduct for all players in your program. By the end of the first week of practice, the coach shall provide the athletic director with a roster of all student athletes kept and communicate roster updates if necessary. Conduct himself/herself on the field at all times in such a manner that he/she will not insult players, officials or spectators. Do not argue a judgment call by the officials. Know the rules. Be responsible for the conduct of your players. Teach by example. Encourage positive fan involvement. Organize practices, off-season workouts and conduct staff meetings. Inform all participants of the safety precautions associated with their sport or activity and teach proper skills to reduce chance of injury. Check all equipment routinely for safety concerns. The Assistant Women's Basketball coach must have a clear understanding of NCAA Division III rules and philosophy, a commitment to recruiting, developing and graduating quality student-athletes. Responsibilities: 1. Is responsible for the organization and supervision of his/her coaching staff in teaching the fundamentals of interscholastic sports. 2. Is responsible for the behavior of the entire squad and coaching staff at all practice sessions and in all interscholastic games. 3. He/she also has these further duties: a. Is responsible for the supervision and direction of the total program of his/her sport. b. Directs the work and assignment of his/her assistant coaches with the approval of the Athletic Administrator. c. Safeguards the physical well-being of all participants. d. Controls his/her behavior and that of his/her team at practices and games, since he/she is the person most instrumental in crowd control. e. Informs all athletes of the guidelines, conduct code, policies and procedures of the department and the OHSAA. f. Is financially responsible for all equipment in his/her inventory. Equipment issued must be accounted for at the end of the season. g. Along with other coaches, is expected to cooperatively supervise the locker room and team area. Coaches are expected to be at their area of practice at all times and must be present in the locker room until all athletes have gone from the area. At no time are the athletes to be in an unsupervised area. h. Is responsible for special courtesies shown to officials and visiting teams. Officials and visiting teams should be shown to their dressing rooms. i. Arranges for storage at the conclusion of the season- all jackets, sweaters, shoes, hats and any other coaching staff equipment purchased by the athletic fund. j. Attends all Athletic Department meetings unless excused by the Athletic Administrator. k. Is in attendance at all interscholastic contests involving his/her team, at home or away, unless there is an extenuating circumstance. l. Keeps expenditures within the budget. m. Is cognizant of the tremendous influence coaches and sports have on athletes. The head Coach must approach the task of coaching at all times with the thought in mind that what one says and does, both desirable and undesirable, has tremendous consequence upon the actions and reactions of the young adults. n. The Assistant Women's Basketball coach must have a clear understanding of NCAA Division III rules and philosophy, a commitment to recruiting, developing and graduating quality student-athletes. This individual will be responsible to assist the head coach in all coaching duties including, but not limited to, planning and facilitation of practice sessions, game preparation, recruiting, and scheduling. The position reports directly to the Head Women's Basketball Coach and may include a secondary assignment within the athletic department dependent upon the successful candidate's credentials and expertise. Responsibilities Assist Head Coach in managing all phases of a NCAA, Division III Basketball program with specific responsibilities outlined below: Teach proper technique and skill development to student-athletes in all positions. Instruction of physical health, team concepts, team development techniques and safety. Educate student athletes on NCAA rules and regulations of a Division III program Monitor student athlete academic progress Understand, support and embody team's overarching philosophy as developed by Head Coach.
