At full capacity, our Youth Program serves over 250 high school student-athletes from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. It is a high dosage, year-round rowing and academic program with a goal of ensuring that 100% of our young people graduate high school and matriculate to college or begin an alternative post-secondary plan. In addition, we offer rowing to New Yorkers of all ages who are either people with physical or cognitive disabilities, military veterans, or local community members. Lastly, Row New York offers summer camps and a fee-for-service rowing program for New York City independent high schools. Our programs are offered at two rowing sites: Upper Manhattan and Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Position Summary: The Manhattan Assistant Coach helps run the activities of high school student-athletes at RNY's Manhattan program site under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Head Coach. The Assistant Coach supports the coaching of a team of student-athletes in both on and off water program activities after school and on Saturday mornings during the school year. In the summer, practices are held early on weekday mornings. The Manhattan Youth Program is co-ed. A strong candidate has at least three years of rowing experience (high school, club, or collegiate), has coached rowing for at least one year, is comfortable driving an outboard launch without supervision, and has experience working with diverse populations. The candidate will be inspired by and capable of developing the potential of every rower. SCOPE South Bronx United (SBU) is seeking energetic individuals with a passion for youth development and soccer to join our team of SBU Coach-Mentors. In the position, the individual will serve as a mentor and Head Soccer Coach for a travel team of boys or girls within the SBU Academy Program. As a mentor, the individual serves as the first point of contact for any issues regarding SBU student athletes on the team and as a positive influence promoting education, character, and community. As a coach, the individual will run twice-weekly soccer trainings and coach the team at weekend games. The coach will have the goal of keeping youth active, instilling fun, and helping youth grow as both players and students. This is a part time position from September to June requiring approximately 8-12 hours/week during the fall and spring seasons. Hours will decrease during the winter off-season (January-February) to 4-6 hours/week. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Proven track record of developing young athletes both in sports and academics. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with youth and their families. Strong understanding of the importance of academic achievement in conjunction with athletic development. Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture. First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
