What You'll Do The College Access Coach (high school coach) service positions focus on coaching and supporting high school juniors and high school seniors who are seeking to earn a college degree. High school coaches will serve primarily inside a partner high school coaching a caseload of high school juniors and/or seniors as they explore college opportunities and complete the college application process. All high school coaches are required to be in the office every Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM for mandatory ongoing training. Coaches must have reliable transportation to and from the office, assigned school placements, affiliated institutions, and other required locations. Work directly with the Athletic Operations Coordinator (AOC) for game day set up, equipment purchases, inventory and care for uniforms and equipment as well as being a positive steward for all USM's facilities. Communicate post game results and other noteworthy news items with the Assistant Athletics Director and Director of Athletics in a timely manner so they can be communicated through social media outlets. Compile end of season statistics and important facts and return to the Assistant Athletic Director prior to the end-of-season assembly. Keep current on coaching trends in field and utilize professional development opportunities whenever appropriate. Perform other duties as necessary to better the program as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of soccer, its operations and equipment Ability to understand developmental levels of students and apply to practice Ability to competently use technology Experience working with diverse population and clientele with high expectations Effective communication skills Strong interpersonal skills; capable of using tact and diplomacy in dealing with others Excellent organizational skills with a strong degree of self-direction and motivation High level of maturity, confidentiality and assertiveness Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team Ability to work over weekends and holidays as dictated by seasonal schedule Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in related field 2-4 years of coaching experience
