Title: Director of Operations/Assistant Women's Basketball Coach Position Type: Staff Full-Time Days Per Week: Days of the week scheduled to work will be dependent on practice and game schedules. Hours Per Week: VP Area: Athletics Department: The Director of Operations/Assistant Women's Basketball Coach provides support and managerial assistance in the implementation of various operational functions of the women's basketball program. Specific areas of responsibility include coordination of team travel, assisting with fund-raising events, assisting with on-campus recruiting events, and coordinating facilities scheduling. This position also has on-court coaching and instruction duties. Minimum Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in any relevant field of study with minimum 1 year of experience with the following relevant work experience: At least two years of experience in coaching or responsible positions organizing and managing projects and/or activities is strongly preferred. Experience in a university setting strongly preferred. Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree Required. Master's Degree Preferred. Job Duties * Responsible for ensuring well planned and organized road trips by securing transportation, lodging, and meals and working with the opponent's institution to secure practice time and other on-site facility needs. * Assumes responsibility for a particular aspect of the women's basketball program as assigned by the Head Women's Basketball Coach, planning short and long terms objectives under the leadership of the head coach, demonstrating technical expertise in the basics of the sport, and teaching the fundamentals and advanced level skills and game strategies to student-athletes, recruiting players, recommending the selection of team members, supervising practice sessions, providing expert advice to the head coach and team members, providing guidance or mentoring to student athletes throughout the academic year, coordinating with the Academic Assistance staff members, and monitoring academic progress of participating student-athletes. * Coordinates with the athletic facility staff in the scheduling of facilities for practice, game day practice, and out-of-season workouts and works with facility and athletics administration on game day event management. * Abides by and complies with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Conference rules, academic standards, requirements, and policies of the University, and all guidelines and policies of the Athletics department and reports any concerns of compromise or violation of rules, standards, guidelines or policies to the Director of Athletics or the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance. * Promotes a positive image of the intercollegiate athletics program and the University through participation in community and professional organizations, representing the University at professional meetings as required, promoting participation in community service activities by student athletes, and supporting established athletic fund-raising goals by actively participating in fund-raising events and promotional activities for intercollegiate athletics, assists in the formulation of team and department fundraising activities, as directed by the Head Women's Basketball Coach and the Director of Athletics. * Contributes to the overall success of the University's intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Women's Basketball Coach or the Director of Athletics.
