The Job coach is responsible for supporting individual receiving services while working in the community. The primary role of the Job coach Professional is to work alongside the people we support in order to help them to achieve their employment goals. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Adheres to all regulations, policies, procedures and protocols set forth by NY OPWDD, NY Justice Center, Centers for Medicare/Medicaid and Abbott House. Establishes positive working relationships with persons receiving services, co-workers, management and the public. Gathering individuals at the agency for work, transporting them in agency van to a site, explaining tasks, ensuring safety procedures are followed, supervising work to maintain productivity. Transporting the workers/individuals back to the agency or residences after work Write service notes for each individual Required to attend and successfully complete all required training in accordance with OPWDD Training Policy. Drives agency vehicles for transportation of persons receiving supports and adheres to all related vehicle operation policies. Intervenes and addresses any problem that may be occurring. Reports all incidents in a timely manner as required. Participates in scheduled program meetings, i.e., staff meetings, in-service trainings and other meetings as required. This involves: overseeing the recruitment of academically qualified student athletes, helping to maintain the academic success and progress of all recruited athletes with assistance from the Student Academic Support Services department, preparing the teams for practice and competitions on a weekly basis, overseeing and providing counseling, training and conditioning for the athletes, ensuring the rules compliance of the NCAA, Conference and the University in the athletic program with the assistance of the compliance Services on campus, immediate reporting of suspected or confirmed rules violations. 2. Assists in the planning of the program. This involves: developing an attractive annual schedule in cooperation with the Head Coach, meeting regularly with the Head Coach to ensure a clear understanding and dialogue of all aspects of the program, maintaining accurate files and documentation on the athletes including information for the annual report, recruiting and contracts, recommending improvements to maintain the success of the program. 3. Assists in the preparation and expense of a budget. This involves: planning for expensing of the annual university allocation, recommending yearly changes in the budget requests, approving all expenditures of the program throughout the fiscal year. 4. Assists in the coordination of student athlete programs in ensuring the success of the team. 5. Assists in organizing and administering a quality summer camp program as requested. 6. Assists the Head Coach in promoting the University. This includes: being responsible for a great deal of public relations responsibilities to radio, TV, the media and University Alumni and service groups, producing a program that exhibits success and growth each year due to a great amount of spectator, faculty and media interest and the potential for more University revenue, organizing and conducting a quality summer camp to promote the University and generate additional income each year. 7. Receives annual written approval from the Director of Athletics and Recreation and the President prior to receiving any athletically related income and benefits from sources outside the institution including contractual agreements and letters of appointment. Sources of income shall include but are not limited to: income from annuities; sports camps; housing benefits (including preferential housing arrangements); country club memberships; complimentary ticket sales; television and radio programs; and endorsements or consultations with athletics shoe, apparel or equipment manufacturers. 8. Participates in the professional development of the department.
