POSITION PURPOSE:
Serves as a collaborative member of the Special Education Services (SES) Secondary Instructional Programming and Support Team by providing job skill training, job coaching, and job development for students in the Occupational Course of Study (OCS) program. Maintains confidentiality and complies with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, guidelines, and procedures as they relate to the special education program throughout the district.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; Google Apps;
Working knowledge of effective methods of instruction for students;
Working knowledge of general classroom activities and routines;
Ability to comply with Wake County Public School's (WCPSS) Code of Ethics;
Ability to work in a team environment and effectively collaborate with others;
Ability to motivate students;
Ability to constantly supervise the safety and well-being of students;
Ability to recognize variations in student backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles;
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
Ability to participate in specialized training provided by the school system;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, businesses, community agencies, and the public.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Must meet Highly Qualified (HQ)standards for paraprofessionals (as outlined in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)):
Associate's degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited college or university; OR
Two years of higher education (equivalent to 48 credit hours); OR
Ability to pass a formal assessment (ACT WorkKeys Occupational Profile Assessment for Teacher Assistants AND 96 hours of in-service training); OR
Completion of the North Carolina Department of Labor (NC DOL) Apprenticeship Program; OR
Completion of the North Carolina Association of Teacher Assistants (NCATA) Professional Development Plan (PDP); OR
Paraprofessional Praxis Test and/or Paraprofessional Certification (awarded by another state).
Experience working with or assisting individuals with special needs (an individual with one or more difficulties such as a physical, emotional, behavioral, or learning disability or impairment that causes an individual to require additional or specialized services or accommodations).
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Hold and maintain a Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification (specific program to be determined by WCPSS SES) and maintain that certification through the proper renewal process, adhering to all timelines; CPI training will be provided through WCPSS, if needed;
Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of assessments at the secondary level (i.e., vocational assessments, interest inventories, etc.); transition assessments;
Experience providing job training to individuals with disabilities;
Experience working with students at the secondary level;
First aid and CPR certifications;
Knowledgeable about transition planning in the Individualized Education Programs (IEP) process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as a collaborative member of the SES Secondary Instructional Programming and Support Team by providing job skill training, job coaching, and job development for students in the OCS program.
Assists with the identification and development of Community Based Vocational Training (CBVT) sites, paid employment sites, as well as on-campus training options, that support the achievement of transition related goals.
Develops job task analyses and individualized job training plans for use with students.
Provides supervised job skills training for students on job sites by monitoring work-related behaviors and task completion.
Conducts vocational, career, and interest assessments to determine career interests, job placement, and assist with IEP transition component development.
Consults with classroom teachers and instructional assistants on student strengths, needs, and interventions.
Provides support for teachers at IEP meetings by providing verbal and/or written input on job skill progress and areas of vocational interest.
Assists students with job searching, job readiness skills, and the interview process.
Assists SES personnel (Senior Administrator, Lead Transition Teacher, Coordinating Teachers) with teacher and instructional assistant professional development opportunities on proper completion of training site data collection and progress monitoring.
Prepares and maintains records and files on student work performance.
Provides initial follow up job coaching for students in paid employment.
Provides information on, and facilitate involvement of, students in suitable work-based learning/training activities.
Promotes instruction in self-determination, self-advocacy, social/interpersonal skills, and work-related behaviors.
Participates in the district staff development program and continued professional growth in the area of assignment.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.

* Is accountable for all equipment and collects the cost of any equipment lost or not returned.
* Arranges for issuing, storing and reconditioning of equipment and submits annual inventory and current records concerning same.
* Properly marks and identifies all equipment before issuing or storing.
* Monitors equipment rooms and coaches' offices, authorizes who may enter, issue or requisition equipment.
* Permits the athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times.
* Examines locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the facility. Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sport equipment.
* Secures all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving building if custodians are not on duty.

Coach/Mentor/Trainers (CMT) are college-aged students who guide teams, facilitate reflections, and evaluate team performances, bringing college-level enthusiasm to the Challenge. As a result of serving as a CMT, you will have the opportunity to deepen your own leadership while building relevant professional skills, such as the ability to work on diverse, intergenerational teams, communication, and critical thinking, while shaping young minds. Past Shelton Challenge experience is preferred, but not required.
Salary: CMTs will be compensated via a one-time payment that will amount to $600 to help remove barriers for college students serving in this invaluable role. All wages will be taxed accordingly.

Position:

Responsibilities:
Coach between 8+ classes each week once schedule has matured.
Perform 30-60-90 day performance reviews for all new coaches
Perform 6-month reviews of existing coaches
Work with the general manager to create and maintain regular weekly class schedule.
Make schedule adjustments along the way based on attendance/coach availability.
Work with the General Manager to plan themed rows and operationalize events/challenges.
Manage the schedule once it's made. (I.e. manage subs)

Job Duties & Responsibilities A KidStrong Head Coach is the support system of the Area Developer when it comes to the center. It's the responsibility of the Head Coach to work with the Area Developer on fostering a culture of learning and development for both their Coaches and the Families that attend the center and delivering key business results such as sales performance and lowering member attrition. The Head Coach is a talented, welcoming, and engaging leader who is focused on delivering an exceptional experience for the kids, families, and team members. RESPONSIBILITIES: CENTER OPERATIONS
Understand the center's key KPI's and financials in order to make informed and responsible business decisions.
Build and maintain relationships with KidStrong families to align with our core values and provide exceptional customer service.
Oversee center level initiatives i.e. center maintenance, training, brand consistency etc.
Daily, Weekly, and Monthly cleaning and maintenance of the center

Center must achieve a net positive in membership monthly. Goal is a net positive of 25 members every month.
LEADERSHIP

Continuously assess and document Coaches based on the KidStrong Coach DNA profile and class quality. Not to discuss directly with the coach but bringing awareness to our Head Coach.
Partner with the Area Developer on onboarding, managing, training and evaluating coaching candidates.
Manage and support ongoing professional development of staff through LearnUpon.
Communicate professionally with co-workers in Slack and Email, including periodic checks of messages when not in centers.
COACHING
Coach students by delivering an evolving curriculum that focuses on Brain, Physical, and Character development for ages ranging from 15 months - 11 years-old approximately as required by business demands.
Understand the “why” behind the KidStrong curriculum and be able to clearly and concisely communicate it.
Demonstrate and manage the implementation of various programming and curriculum elements.
Use the KS Coaches App to record data and provide data (attendance, awards, etc.).
Must be able to work in a physically intensive environment - coaches may cover multiple miles in a shift moving through class, lift and repeatedly move equipment up to 75 pounds in weight.
