Work with others in the university community to integrate the esports experience into the academic experience and entrepreneurial culture. Build and maintain high level knowledge in at least 40% of the varsity esports game titles. Essential Functions 60% secondary coordination and assistance with varsity programs on campus: Support the individual esports teams including but not limited to creating relationships with student esports athletes and teams and implementing new initiatives derived from the Head Coach and esports Director. Assist esports leadership and participants in the fundraising and budgeting for esports teams. Provide program oversight and effective management of student assistants in programs by coordinating the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines. Assist in maintaining overall game and practice schedules for each team and with facility needs for team. Resolve conflict among student participants. Plan and coordinate training, teambuilding and learning experiences specifically designed for varsity members. Oversee tracking of attendance at games, practices, and meetings. Deploy strategies for recruitment of students for varsity team selection on campus. This includes working with current UA students, potential transfer students and students in the high school portal. Maintain assigned varsity arena including PC upkeep and management. 20% Member of the esports leadership team: Provide support in the development, planning, direction, and coordination of comprehensive university esports programs, including, but not limited to: intramural esports, club esports, gaming club management, & recreational gaming; communicate effectively with others; demonstrate flexibility within the position assignments as needed. Assist in the recruitment of students to participate in all esports activities on campus including participation in Admissions and Orientation activities. Facilitate pathways for academic and professional success for students in club programs. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of esports venues. Oversee management of an organized space for equipment and uniforms, implement system for assigned equipment and uniforms and maintain accurate inventories. 15% External outreach/coordination for varsity programs specifically for general recruitment for The University of Akron. Work with the esports head coach to personally outreach to students interested in the esports program and enter them into the admissions programs within The University of Akron. Track students for further outreach and invite them to team tryouts that happen yearly. 5% Other duties as assigned. Additional Position Information: Education: Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree. Licenses/Certifications/Requirements: Requires a valid drivers license Experience: Previous experience working in esports is preferred. Experience that demonstrates an ability to organize, work in a team environment, motivate and guide a college esports club program required. Familiarity with the rules and intricacies of the most widely played competitive games in the esports field required. Experience in higher education administration, including working with students, organizing events and managing venues, and developing leadership skills preferred. Firm commitment to a student-centered culture and the academic success of students required. Experience maintaining both software and hardware equipment associated with esports preferred. Experience monitoring budgets required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Ideal candidate will be able to assist with student-player recruitment, acquisition of sponsorships, and fundraising. Strong motivational skills, public relation skills and marketing capabilities preferred. Leadership: Responsible for directing and monitoring the work of student and/or volunteer workers for the program. Physical Requirements: Light physical effort required involving stooping and bending; individual has limited discretion about walking, standing, etc.; occasionally lifting of lightweight objects (up to 25 lbs.).
