Position Summary
The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
The Office of Student Retention implements targeted interventions to support at-risk students. Mentoring and Persistence to Success (MAPS) is a key initiative within the Office of Student Retention to support traditionally underserved students including those who are first-generation, or low-income, and students who have aged out of foster care, are emancipated, orphaned, or homeless. The MAPS Academic Coach provides holistic support services to MAPS students.
Responsibilities include:
* Provide academic and professional development coaching to a caseload of MAPS eligible students to contribute to students' success
* Educate students on how to improve academic skills (e.g., time management, study skills, test taking strategies, etc.)
* Create programming for students such as First-Gen Celebration Day, National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, and other collaborations with various campus partners
* Serve as advisor for MAPS student organizations
* Support all aspects of recruiting students to participate in the MAPS program (e.g., participation in admissions/orientation events, social media management, website management, etc.)
* Serve on the First-Gen Advisory Board and facilitate first-gen advocacy training at WCU
* Teach the Learning Contract course (LC 101), by coaching students in academic warning to develop academic and self-management skills for success
* Support students in the Summer Bridge Programs
The MAPS Academic Coach contributes to retention initiatives to increase semester-to-semester enrollment, decrease time to graduation, and advance rate of degree completion for traditionally underserved populations. The MAPS Academic Coach contributes to these efforts through their comprehensive knowledge of the academic and support programs of the University and a thorough understanding of student development theories in practice. The MAPS Academic Coach will have the opportunity to teach a First Year Experience course (USI 130) during the Summer Bridge Program and/or during the Fall semester.
Minimum Qualifications
* A Master's Degree in a related field.
* Two years of demonstrated experience in education supporting students, including student advising, teaching, or student support services.
* Demonstrated previous experience supporting diverse student populations such as students who are first-generation, low-income, or students who have aged out of foster care, are emancipated, orphaned, or homeless.

Engage the family and provide in home services, crisis intervention, case management, and skill-building around problem-solving, self-advocacy, conflict resolution, and relapse planning. Reassess family needs/goal plans at least annually or as needed.

Hourly Head Coach:
As an Orangetheory Fitness Head Coach you will be responsible for coaching OTF workouts, managing schedules of coaching staff within the studio and motivating members of the studio while leading them through pre-defined workouts. While leading workouts coaches must be able to motivate members and have the knowledge and ability to correct exercise form to prevent injuries.

Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for creating a positive, high energy, respectful OTF studio environment
Responsible for managing all aspects of the OTF fitness staff using the OTF business model
Hires, trains, and educates new OTF group personal coaches for success using OTF business model
Responsible for organization and cleanliness of the training floor, as well as other areas of the studio
Must submit monthly coaches schedule to Studio Manager.
Responsible for follow up communication with new and current OTF studio clients.
Conducts monthly fitness staff meetings and attends all relative, mandatory webinars and other requested corporate meetings
Handles member concerns in a professional, objective manner with the goal of resolution.
Must coach 15 classes per week and work maximum of 10 admin hours per week.
Leads or assists Sales Associates with OTF studio tours/sales with new prospects as well as staying current with pricing options
Must be flexible and must work one weekend day and special studio events.
Job Qualifications:
Must hold a current fitness certification from an OTF approved education company such as ACSM, ACE PT/GFI, NASM, NSCA, and ISSA.
Must have current CPR/AED certification
Ability to work and function in a TEAM environment

Instruct the three-day (Fri-Sun) 20-Hour Basic Rider Education Course as mandated by the NC Motorcycle Safety Education Program. Instructor classroom portion of the training which prepares students for the DMV written test as well as the riding skills portion. Teaching a motorcycle safety course is physically demanding. It requires long hours, standing for extended periods of time, walking approximately 5 miles in the course of a day, Continuous bending and stooping to place cones, and sometimes the need to push inoperable motorcycles for distances up to ¼ mile.
Minimum Requirements
1. NC Motorcycle Safety Education Instructor Certification; 2. Licensed, experienced motorcycle operator with a minimum of 3 years riding experience; 3. High School diploma or equivalent; 4. 21 years of age minimum. 5. Driving record with no more than 3 moving violations, no alcohol related traffic violations, and no driver's license suspension, revocation, or denial within the three years preceding the date of application to become a coach. 6. Graduate of a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course ( BRC , or ERC ) 7. Certified in basic first aid and CPR 8. Be recommended by a current RiderCoach.
