TUMO Center for Creative Technologies is looking for tech and design enthusiasts to join the team to support teens as they progress through TUMO's self-learning activities. At TUMO you will get a chance to inspire and mentor teens by sharing your passion and skills in technology and design.
About TUMO
TUMO serves ~30,000 teens each week across 9 countries, including locations in Paris, Berlin, Zurich, Lyon, Yerevan and Kyiv among others. TUMO LA is the first US-based TUMO center made possible with funds from the State of California and the City of LA. TUMO students are between the ages of 12 and 18 and attend TUMO centers after school to learn skills at the intersection of technology and design, completely free of charge. TUMO LA is planning to open to 600 students during summer 2025 and scale to 1,500 students per week over the first year.
Main Responsibilities:
Learning Coaches work directly with students to:
Assist them in the design of their personal learning plans through TUMO's in-house software
Support their learning process by answering technical questions
Offer guidance towards the completion of learning activities
Provide encouragement and motivation to teens learning new skills
Assist in workshop and project coordination in various technology related areas
Track student attendance and provide feedback regarding student development, take measures to engage and inspire reluctant students
Convey a positive, patient, supportive and professional image to students
Promote learning by creating a collaborative and energized environment
Follow up with students who miss their sessions or fail to engage while at the center
Requirements:
Excellent people skills is a must experience working with teens is a plus
Willingness to develop higher order skills such as creativity, analytical thinking and initiative taking, as well as organizational capabilities such as teamwork, communication and research skills
Experience in one or more of TUMO's 8 offered skill areas is a plus
Excellent communication skills, including written communication, personal interaction and public presentation
