Position Summary
The IP Clerk will play a vital role in the GT IP Prosecution team, supporting legal teams by managing correspondence from the USPTO and foreign Patent Offices, conducting life science-based patent and trademark searches, and assisting with due diligence projects and drawings for patent applications. The position provides a great introduction to the IP practice at a large law firm. Many former IP Clerks have gone on to attend law school, become patent agents, or to work as paralegals. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.
Key Responsibilities

Distribution of Office Supplies to staff and maintain inventory levels; Entering weekly Incarcerated Individual's Stipend payments Responsible for the sale of Staff Dining Meal tickets, reconcile Meal Ticket revenue and enter into IMS; Daily reconciliation of all income and disbursements in IMS; Shared responsibility of making daily deposits to the bank; Perform duties of Treasurer in their absence ; Must have working knowledge in Excel, Word, and Access Database; must be proficient in mathematical skills and basic accounting procedures; basic knowledge of office equipment required; must have supervisory experience; perform all other related duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent organizational skills. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize workload. Knowledge of operations of other departments in the institution through training programs and interrelated activities.
Comments:
This is a Civil Service position. Please note that salaries for union positions are determined according to the provisions of the respective collective bargaining agreement. The Massachusetts Department of Correction shall not hire anyone who may have direct contact with offenders, who has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other institution as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997; or has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse, or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in the above paragraph. The agency shall consider any incidents of sexual harassment in determining whether to hire anyone who may have contact with offenders or residents. The DOC urges bilingual applicants to apply.

Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in office work, of which (B) at least one year must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity, or (C) and equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below\:
I. A diploma as evidence of graduation from the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience. *
II. A diploma as evidence of graduation from a course other than the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school or possession of a Massachusetts high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for a maximum of eight months of the required experience. *
III. A diploma for completion of a one year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum or one year of the required experience. *
IV. A diploma for completion of a two-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for two years of the required experience.*
* Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
