Distinguishing Characteristics
Able to perform routine custodial maintenance, cleaning, and grounds keeping in the Maintenance of Facilities Department, to include having the skill and ability to operate the tools and equipment associated with these functions. May work independently or as a part of a team in assigned work areas.
Supervision Received and Exercised
The Facilities Maintenance Custodian works under the immediate supervision of the COASTER/SPRINTER Managers and/or Shift Supervisors. They have no direct supervisory responsibility. Further, this position is expected to participate in the sharing of expert knowledge and as a vital member of various project teams that may be instituted.
Working Conditions
This position is required to work in all types of settings, including outdoors. The classification also works with various machinery and chemicals. Individuals in this position must be able to work safely to prevent on-the-job accidents and injuries, wear protective equipment including hearing protection, safety-toe boots, safety glasses and other Personal Protective Equipment items as assigned by NCTD. PURPOSE
The janitor is responsible for cleaning buildings, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy. Vacuums and buffs floors, shampoo carpets, empty trash receptacles, and replace the lining of trash cans.
DUTIES & RESPONSABILITIES
Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning, etc)
Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities
