Department Information
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide custodial service for residential areas including interior/exterior hallways, breezeways, stairwells, flooring, trash, recycle receptacles, residential grounds and parking lots
2. Provide cleaning services for residential units including apartments, suites, community and lounge areas, bathrooms, offices, lobbies, elevators, laundry room and fitness areas

Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and handle. All of these requirements are necessary for using ladders and stairs, cleaning low areas, high areas, benches and corners. Must be able to communicate with supervisors and co-workers. Reasonable accommodations for physical requirements will be considered.
OVERALL QUALIFICATIONS
Must have three (3) to six (6) months training or experience working as a janitor preferred,or be capable of learning to perform the essential functions. This role provides essential custodial support for the Southwest Arts Center, ensuring a clean and safe environment for staff and visitors. This position is for the Night Custodian, scheduled from Wednesday - Sunday, 4:00 p.m. - 10 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. with hours subject to change on Sundays based upon needs for special events.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assures buildings are properly locked and secured by setting alarms after events have ended and the campus is clear of patrons and staff (including locking front entrance gates).
Assists in setting up for programs, inside and outside of buildings, and cleans after programs are completed.
Request supplies and maintains inventory.
Sweeps, mops, and waxes floors; cleans and disinfects all restrooms, sinks, and water fountains; empties trash, cleans offices and kitchens.
Cleans furniture, glass, and mirrors; cleans surrounding areas of the facility including parking lots; sweeps entrance ramps and porches; reports repairs to facility supervisor.
Keeps daily maintenance checklist and supply of necessary forms; completes required forms for completed jobs.
May be required to possess and maintain additional certifications depending on the area of assignment.
Requires a valid state driver's license with acceptable driving history.
