Work in atmospheres and locations with the potential for exposure to various chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosive
Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, including lifting in areas of low clearance
Work at elevations including working from ladders and scaffolding
Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters
Climb ladders, scaffolding and into and out of trucks, tanks, and various other containers
Work extended (> 8 hrs.) time periods
Attend all compliance and safety update meetings
Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance
Safe loading and unloading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary

Waste Connections, Inc. has immediate openings for a high energy Diesel Mechanic to join the team at our Hauling location in New Port Richey, FL. In this position you will be performing preventative maintenance, DOT inspections as well as performing repairs on hydraulic and electrical systems on our garbage trucks. Previous waste experience would be a huge plus!
This will be a Monday - Thursday working 12:00 PM - 10:00pm, Friday 11:00am - 8:00pm and one Saturday 8:00am - 1:00pm per month.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services. Performs inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
Utilize vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
Work environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair trucks on the road. Usually well-lighted and ventilated. Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basic safety precautions.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement preferred or the ability to obtain in the future
Must provide own personal tools. Welding/fabrication experience a huge plus!

Minimum of 1 year of experience in a technician position demonstrating knowledge of both gasoline and diesel powered equipment diagnosis and repair or will be graduating from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next 3 months.
Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision in some (not all required) of the following heavy truck, or automotive systems: suspensions & steering; general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drive train, diesel emissions.

Within a division, the Operations Supervisor - Landfill is responsible for supervising a team of Lead Operators, Operators and/or General Laborers who contribute to the efficient operation of the landfill. The Operations Supervisor - Landfill is responsible for ensuring that fill sequencing plans are adhered to, density goals are achieved and that the landfill is operated in a manner consistent with the stipulated applicable permit. The Operations Supervisor works with the Operations Manager and General Manager to implement tactical initiatives to drive functional excellence and budget achievement. The Operations Supervisor ensures adherence to all accident prevention programs and leads operations to ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, operating, regulatory, accounting, ethics and other standards. Responsibilities include the execution and delivery of Safety, Customer Experience, and Efficiency while supporting a culture of employee engagement.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
Safety
Understand and provider leadership to achieve and communicate about safety goals and objectives. • Work to remove unsafe conditions or situations from or related to the landfill.
Partner with the maintenance department to ensure all equipment remains in working order and in compliance with safety standards.

The Operator - Heavy Equipment is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station for the purpose of transferring, spreading, covering, loading and/or compacting waste or soil in an efficient and safe manner.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company policy to ensure windows, lights, mirrors and rear view camera are clean. Safely and efficiently operate equipment that may include: forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other equipment using proper safety standards.
Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials.
Continuously monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time; clean tracks or wheels on equipment, as needed.
Perform and document minor service on equipment, referring more complicated mechanical issues to Maintenance Shop for repair.
Complete Equipment Condition Report and other reports, as necessary; report any necessary repairs to supervisor, as needed.
Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
Ensure that shop is clean, serviced and stored at the completion of each shift.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Good customer services skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.
Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.

Waste Connections, Inc. has an immediate opening for a high energy, self-directed, organized Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician to join the team at Sun Country Materials Landfill, Riverview, FL. Previous waste experience and knowledge of Equipment Management Software would be a huge plus!
This will be a Monday - Friday position working 7:00am- 5:00 PM and Possible Saturdays. Plus, year-round OT.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tasked to order parts and build a relationship with onsite office clerk, site staff and equipment venders.
Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services. Performs inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment. Equipment currently on site. (Landfill Compactors, Dozers, Excavators, Motor grader, Haul trucks Site trucks)
Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns. Breakdowns may occur on the working face of the landfill.
Comfortable with operating and working on Heavy Equipment.
Previous field experience is a plus
Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Performs maintenance related work as required.
Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks in a timely manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Extensive physical activity. strenuous physical work: heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
Work environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair equipment on the landfill. Usually, well-lit, and ventilated. Sometimes it is necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require the following basic safety precautions.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 2 years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Must have experience working on yellow iron/heavy equipment.
Must provide own personal tools.
