WHAT WE DO The ask BH Customer Relations program serves as the community's one-point-of-contact for non-emergency assistance with City services, programs, and events. Community members can request information and services, report concerns and receive updates when their requests have been resolved. In addition to handling non-emergency inquiries, the Customer Relations team also plays a critical role in answering the City's Emergency Hotline during activations. Through ask BH, the team delivers essential City updates, collaborates with departments across the organization on customer service initiatives, and ensures a seamless and efficient customer experience. While the program operates within Public Works, it serves as a department-wide resource, supporting both day-to-day service needs and emergency communications. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR The City of Beverly Hills is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Customer Service Representative to perform a wide variety of public assistance and public information activities on the telephone, e-mail and online. The incumbent of this position must be a responsible team player, with the ability to learn, interpret and apply relevant procedures and regulations. This individual should have excellent communication skills to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with City staff and the general public. WORK SCHEDULE This position will be assigned a work schedule based on operational needs as determined by the Public Works Director. Potential schedules include 5/40 schedule, 4/10 schedule, and weekend shifts as needed. Interpret and explain law enforcement policies and procedures. Understand, interpret, apply, and enforce applicable federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations. Exercise initiative, courtesy, and function with a significant degree of independence. Gather, analyze, and evaluate facts and evidence and reach sound conclusions. Use sound judgment in recognizing scope of authority and in performance of duties; make decisions under pressure including life-threatening situations. Interview victims, complainants, witnesses, and persons suspected of criminal activity; conduct a variety of criminal and special investigations. Administer First Aid, NARCAN, and CPR. Utilize appropriate safety procedures and practices for assigned duties. Effectively use and qualify with law enforcement tools and weapons including firearms, batons, defensive tactics, and other safety equipment. Operate specialized law enforcement equipment including specialized police vehicles, radios, video systems, and radars. Operate office equipment including computers and applicable software applications. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Work with various cultural and ethnic groups in a tactful and effective manner. Maintain regular attendance and adhere to prescribed work schedule to conduct job responsibilities. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Prepare clear and concise reports and routine correspondence. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
