1. FRONTLINE NATIONAL EXAMINATION: (qualifying) includes multiple-choice video simulations and computer administered test in which candidates must complete the following three test components: a video-based human relations test, report writing, and reading comprehension. The examination is administered by the National Testing Network. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THE FRONTLINE EXAM UNTIL YOU RECEIVE AN E-MAIL STATING THAT YOU MEET THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.
Candidates need a score of 60% or higher on the Video Section, and an overall score of 70% or higher to pass this examination.
The City of Santa Ana is now accepting PELLETB scores from other agencies. The PELLETB exam must have been completed within 6 months of application date in order for scores to be used in lieu of the Frontline National Examination. The minimal acceptable score is 46.The next three selection components (Physical Agility Exam, Oral Interview Examination and Background Orientation) are all consolidated in one full day of testing.
2. PHYSICAL AGILITY EXAM: (qualifying) will evaluate each applicant's physical strength, agility and endurance in the following timed components:
1.5 MILE RUN The 1.5 mile run must be completed within 14 minutes to pass the City of Santa Ana physical agility test.
500 YARD RUN Run 500 yards
SOLID FENCE CLIMB Run 5 yards to a 6-foot solid fence, climb over fence, and continue running another 25 yards
CHAIN LINK FENCE Run 5 yards to a 6-foot chain link fence, climb over fence, and continue running another 25 yards
OBSTACLE COURSE/AGILITY RUN Run a 99-yard obstacle course consisting of several sharp turns, a number of curb-height obstacles, and a 34-inch high obstacle
BODY DRAG Lift and drag 165 pound lifelike dummy 32 feet

Each of the above events are timed. Candidate's performance times are converted to points and summed. Candidates must successfully complete the 1.5 mile run AND accumulate a minimum total score of 384 points in the remaining five events to pass the physical agility test.

Under general supervision, provide assistance and instruction to students in elementary through high school with homework and tutoring in math, English, science, social studies, library skills, and related subjects; provide assistance and instruction to a wide-range of students in the use of computers, the Internet, educational software, computer applications, and electronic resources; provide assistance in the development of computer classes and lab monitoring. Job Summary:
Under general supervision; leads, coordinates, supervises and works with a crew engaged in the maintenance of turf, landscaped areas, City Hall, Community Center, Corporation Yard and Park facilities. Oversees and coordinates work of grounds workers, maintenance workers, temporary workers and senior citizens assigned to grounds maintenance. Supervises and works close with a crew of 5-7 employees engaged in a variety of specialized and skilled grounds maintenance activities in the care of City facilities. The major reason or purpose for our work is to provide for properly maintained grounds and athletic fields that are free from litter and aesthetically pleasing for public use and for the enjoyment of recreational programs and activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Provide supervision and leadership for 5-7 subordinate employees.
Train, coordinate, plan and assign duties.
Design, install new systems; redesign existing irrigation systems.

Possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certificate, CPR certificate and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certificate is REQUIRED. The City of Richmond is looking to hire multiple people for our Maintenance Aide II positions within the Public Works Department. Position Description and Duties
Under close supervision, does routine and repetitive manual laboring tasks in the areas of building, grounds, street maintenance, and City facilities and does related work as required.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
Maintenance Aides may be assigned a variety of routine medium to heavy laboring tasks related to the custodial maintenance of parks, streets, and City facilities. This differs from Maintenance Worker I, Groundskeeper-Gardener, Equipment Utility Worker I, and Utility Worker I who are required to perform work requiring greater job skills and less supervision. Normal work assignments may include evenings and weekends. Incumbents may be assigned to various departments in the City. Appointees to positions within this class shall be limited to appointments not to exceed 1000 hours (125) days in a fiscal year.
Depending on assignments:
May perform grounds maintenance work such as picking up rubbish, raking leaves, moving and watering lawns, and pulling weeds.
May assist maintenance and skilled trades personnel in forming building maintenance tasks.
May perform routine unskilled, heavy manual laboring work in street maintenance such as cleaning gutters, drains, catch basins, and culverts; and repairing street surfaces by spreading, raking, or shoveling asphalt or other materials.
May clean restrooms and perform other janitorial duties.
May load, unload or transport equipment, materials and supplies.
Work in clean-up crew (i.e. clean vacant lots, vacant and abandoned houses, weeds, debris, litter, and trash) throughout the City.
Work in parks clean-up crew as well as general buildings/facilities clean-up crew.

Minimum Qualifications

Under direct supervision of the Public Safety Management, Manager, or Designee performs duties enforcing regulations regarding stray, nuisance, and dangerous animals; investigates reports of animal cruelty, abandonment and patrols assigned areas; collects and transports animals to the County Animal Shelter; and performs related work as required.
Animal Control Officers are responsible for performing routine to moderately difficult animal control duties. After initial training, incumbents take a full range of action in conformance with state and local laws relating to the safety, health, welfare, and control of both domestic and wild animals. Incumbents have frequent interactions with the public to explain laws and regulations relating to the care and control of animals and may issue citations and/or notices in connection with violations. Work requires the application of approved methods, techniques and devices in the pickup and capture of injured, sick and vicious animals to avoid or minimize personal risk.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
These functions are representative and may not be present in all positions of the class. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind related duties and work assignments.
1. Patrols assigned areas in City vehicles; captures stray and unlicensed animals for impounding; transports injured animals; assists other agencies such as Los Angeles Sheriff's Department with issues involving domestic and wild animals (i.e., coyotes, bobcats, raccoons, etc.).
2. Investigates complaints from the public and other agencies regarding nuisance, stray, uncontrolled, dangerous, wild or diseased animals; investigates animal bites, arranging for proper identification and quarantine; approves and monitors home quarantine of biting animals in accordance with regulations; traps, snares and captures animals; transports sick and dead animals, as well as unlicensed and stray animals to the County Animal Shelter.
3. Investigates complaints regarding animal cruelty and neglect; inspects premises where animals are kept to ensure that animals' food, water, sanitation, and housing are adequate; enforces City/State ordinances governing the keeping of animals.
4. Explains filing of complaints and the operations and authorities of the animal shelter to the public laws and regulations relating to the care and control of animals; investigates complaints of stolen animals.
5. Prepares and submits investigative reports and daily activity reports; collects evidence on animal-related cases and appears in court when required; issues citations for violations of laws and regulations; testifies in court regarding citations and disposition of complaints.
6. Works cooperatively with personnel, coworkers, and the management team.
7. Must be able to work independently as well as in a team, exercises tact, self-restraint, and good judgement; takes initiative to achieve positive, timely results for the organization with diplomatic skills and ethical conduct.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions: Work is generally performed in standard office and, occasionally, field settings. Occasional travel to different sites is required. Occasionally works on various types of surfaces, including slippery or uneven surfaces and rough terrain. Incumbents may be exposed to gas, smoke, smells and scents, loud and noisy conditions, indoor and outdoor lighting, dirt and dust, wind and pollen, and variable weather conditions.

Outdoor Camping Guide - Trekkers (2025)
Davis, CA Job
Trekkers is a car-camping trip designed to provide an opportunity for youth to safely experience the outdoors while gaining a clear understanding of outdoor camping skills and wilderness preservation. It is a 5-day, 4-night program for participants 11-15 years old. Trekkers' trips include outdoor recreation, nature education, teambuilding activities, hiking and swimming. Trips are in various natural locations across the central and northern part of California, including state and national parks. All camping will occur in established campgrounds.
This program operates with a ratio of two staff members for up to twelve campers.

Typical Hours:
Sundays - prep days: 4 hours
Mondays - trips start: 16 hours
Tuesdays & Wednesdays - full days in field: 24 hours

Duties: Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and Camp Manager, the Outdoor Camping Guide positions assist in the implementation of daily operations for Trekkers Camp.
Typical Pre/Post Trip Responsibilities:
Research the area of camping locations for activities to participate in
Create a schedule/itinerary for the trip, preparation, driving directions, and other logistics
Meal planning, budgeting, grocery shopping
Gear identification, purchases, cleaning, and packing for each trip
Understand aspects of risk management and protocols for possible scenarios that could arise
Create packing list for campers for each trip
Conduct pre-trip meetings to thoroughly prepare campers and parents of the expectations and preparations for the trips
Unpack, clean and put away gear from trips and re-set gear and supplies for the next trip
Debrief each trip with the Program Coordinator
Typical Trip Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively with local officials and park rangers, following direction and guidance as needed
Drive a large van of children from one location to the next
Teach children how to set up a campsite, including tents and kitchen area
Educate children on campsite and nature safety and courtesy including the Leave No Trace Principles
Initiate and lead group cooking and clean-up
Responsible for all campers physical and emotional safety and well-being during trip
Engage children in campsite activities like; nature discovery, card/board games, creative games with little supplies like charades, campfire skits, etc…

Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

Supervise pool patrons and aquatics programs at various pool facilities.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 16 years old by the date of hire (June 2025), and any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the desirable knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below. Minors will be required to submit a work permit to the Human Resources Department prior to hire.
Possession of a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certificate, CPR certificate and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certificate is REQUIRED.
