Salary -and Duty Location Recruitment Incentives- and Benefits Annual Base Salary for newly appointed CBPOs varies as follows: GL-5 $49,739-$61,833 GL-7 $56,623-$71,615 GL-9 $63,148-$81,480 Locality pay varies by duty location. A fully trained CBP Officer is eligible for up to $45,000 in overtime pay in addition to the starting salary. Grade level eligibility and salaries vary depending upon background, including experience and education, and duty location of the opportunity. This is a career ladder position with a grade level progression of GS-5, GS-7, GS-9, GS-11, and GS-12. You will be eligible for a promotion to the next higher grade level (without re-applying) once you successfully complete 52 weeks in each grade level. Promotions are at the discretion of the agency. Ability to read, speak, and comprehend English in a manner sufficient for effective communication. Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs. Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
