What you'll be doing: Prospect and sell new insurance accounts for Church Mutual and subsidiaries. Compensation & Benefits: • The target pay for this position is $65,500 - $85,800, which includes base plus book commission. The base salary for this role is $40.5K - $60.8K. Within established guidelines, will evaluate and determine eligibility of new business. • Conduct the required amount of prospecting activities by meeting or exceeding established goals or objectives demonstrating a true “Sales Hunter” mentality. • Conduct on-site visits to prospects to inspect, evaluate, and document exposures and conduct sales presentations. As a field underwriter, offer sound risk management and risk improvement advice to potential prospects. Complete insurance application and provide supporting data for processing. Enter system data to process transactions and document all decisions and communications. • Complete and maintain database(s) for all sales activities, provide written report(s) to management as directed, complete and process expense accounts. • Attend training seminars, meetings, and conventions as required, including trips to the Home Office for training. Work closely with product and compliance teams in support of underwriting resource development for adherence to regulatorily requirements. Here's what we expect Remote opportunity with preference for candidates living in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana,Michigan and Ohio Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred. CPCU or evidence of continuing education in the insurance industry is preferred. Eight to ten years in the property and casualty industry, including three to five years in underwriting. Experience driving execution of projects through stages including research, data-driven decision-making, resource and workflow development and successful initiative implementation. Department-level project management experience to include the use of formal project management methodology. Working knowledge of external compliance requirements, insurance department complaints and market conduct examinations is desirable. Experience navigating IT systems including workflow tools, policy administration and vendor solutions in support of Underwriting functions preferred. Prior experience designing requirements for systems a significant plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills supporting capability to develop, test and implement solutions for complex problems and issues. Strong listening, written and verbal presentation. Summary Statement Conduct investigation of complex construction defect claims. Concludes claims based on the analysis of coverage and the developed facts of loss. Essential Tasks/Major Duties Investigate construction defect losses, identify coverage, evaluate liability and damages, review and analyze construction contracts, documents and legal pleadings. Determine need for, identify and engage experienced independent adjusters, engineers, counsel, or other technical experts while monitoring and controlling costs. Review and interpret commercial General Liability policies and accordingly communicate coverage issues verbally and in writing through reservation of rights letters. Develop plan of action to proactively conclude claims through timely evaluation of damages, engaging other parties, negotiations and settlement pursuant to claims guidelines. Advise agents, policyholders and internal stakeholders of claims status as required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience required. 5 years of experience with commercial property construction defect loss adjustment. Extensive claims knowledge and skills related to General Liability bodily injury and General Liability property damage claims, including construction defect, are required. Continued insurance education including designations such as AIC and CPCU preferred. Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams. Demonstrated successful ability to prioritize and multi-task various and conflicting responsibilities. Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and decision making skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers. Ability to travel up to 10%.
