Our client is a manufacturer of flavors and ingredients for food and beverage manufacturers. We are looking to hire an experienced Food Scientist who will be responsible for flavor development, food formulation, product evaluation, validation, and new food application development. We are open to hiring someone from a flavor company or food manufacturer. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Food Science / Dairy Science - or an AOS in Culinary Science. Masters degree in Food Science is desired. This position is eligible for relocation assistance. Duties and Responsibilities: Evaluate and/or validate flavor and food formulations based on business needs. Work on customer driven projects to achieve various objectives, such as formulation with new and innovative ingredients, cost reduction, product matching, flavor enhancement, flavor masking, and clean label improvements. Learn and use processing equipment in lab and pilot plant with minimal supervision. Scale up formulas from kitchen/lab-scale environment to pilot plant and production. Prepare simple application kits or develop concepts into demonstrations that can be used by sales managers during sales visits and trade events. Handle simple to complex flavor and food formulation projects in a timely manner. Interacts with external customers, internal applications scientists and other departments internally as needed in defining specific parameters, objectives, and timelines for projects. Education and/or Experience: Master's degree (M.S.) in Food Science or equivalent with 0-3 years of experience OR Bachelor's degree (B.S.) with 3-5 years of experience within food research and development, or applications with food ingredient and formulations. Responsibilities of the Technical Support Chemist include : On-site & virtual installations and trainings at laboratories around the US Telephone and email troubleshooting for customers Assist in development of methods Instrument and software testing Create customer describing procedures for efficient and effective use of instrumentation Special projects related to customer needs Advise customers on instrumentation and methods Perform diagnostics on in-house instruments Instrument maintenance Assist technical sales with Instrument/software demonstrations Assist with sales and marketing strategies Attend conferences, exhibitions and demonstrations as required Requirements Requirements of the Technical Support Chemist: Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry or closely related field Ideally have experience in water/wastewater laboratory Good analytical chemistry laboratory skills Ideally familiar with analyses techniques such as BOD, COD, Metals, Inorganic nutrient analysis Ideally have worked with discrete, flow analyzers (FIA, SFA) and/or BOD robotics Excellent communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as a part of a team to accomplish common goals Ability to travel up to 50% of time (available for overnight weeknight travel, up to 3-4 nights per week). External applicants must be eligible to work in the US. * Sign-on bonus of $4,000 if hired for this position (paid out after 90 days of employment)* Your Role: The Associate Production Scientist at MilliporeSigma will manufacture and evaluate chemical products, provide technical support, and perform operations in support of the department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, executing existing production procedures, updating supporting documents, and maintaining the safety and quality of the manufacturing environment. Additional responsibilities include: * Perform operations to meet quality expectations throughout the manufacturing process * Perform routine assays, processes and/or unit operations * Complete the volume of work required to achieve group/departmental goals and meet deadlines * Contribute to support functions of the lab (e.g., maintain equipment, prepare reagents, restock lab supplies, waste disposal) * Communicate the status of operations and bring deviations to the attention of the supervisor * Provide complete and accurate records consistent with quality guidelines * Ensure all applicable logbooks have been filled out completely Interact with other departments as needed * Participate in quality audits * Improve processes through application of scientific knowledge, experience, and principles while in compliance with change control procedures * Identify opportunities for process improvement and participate in process improvements under the guidance of a Supervisor or Scientist * Resolve any unsafe conditions * Assist with training personnel * Act as a technical consultant * Perform and interpret analytical evaluations of products and intermediates * Work in both a large-scale process environment and a glass lab environment * Shift/Hours: 12 hour night shift, 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM - 2/2/3 schedule (M/T on, W/R off, F/S/S on, M/T off, W/R on, F/S/S off, repeat) Physical Attributes: * Work with open chemicals; wear appropriate PPE (including respirator, hard hats, glasses/goggles, chemical resistant suites, gloves, safety shoes) * Lift up to 50 lbs. * Push and pull heavy materials Who You Are: Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other life science discipline OR * High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years of work experience in a chemical production, laboratory, or chemical engineering role Preferred Qualifications: * Knowledge of chemistry, math, and general science * Chemical production experience on the glassware scale * Familiarity with laboratory instruments and production equipment * Independent chemistry research lab or industrial experience * Process techniques and unit operations experience * Experience in analytical techniques and equipment * Experience with safe chemical handling methods * Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written * Strong computer skills RSREMD What we offer: We are curious minds that come from a broad range of backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences.
