What We re Looking For: 3-5 years of senior-level chef experience or a similar leadership role in the hospitality industry. Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly interact with managers, kitchen staff, dining room personnel, and guests. Proficient in basic computer skills, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and online applications. Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and demonstrate a commitment to continuous growth and improvement. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and driven to create exceptional guest experiences. Ability to work 50 hours a week, including nights and weekends. Capable of reaching, bending, stooping, and frequently lifting up to 50 pounds. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all kitchen operations, including food purchasing, preparation, quality standards, sanitation, and cleanliness. Train kitchen staff in cooking techniques, plate presentation, portion control, and sanitation. Make employment decisions (interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and disciplining kitchen personnel). Qualifications * The Sous Chef would ideally be a college graduate in the culinary arts. * Experinced at managing, developing and training line staff and a larger team with professionalism, empathy and accountability. * Computer skills related to Word and Excel for producing receipes and standard operating procedures. * Consistent, efficient with attention to detail and product quality. * Familiar and skilled at food costing. * Be familiar with basic and advanced cooking methods. * Skamania Lodge is open 24-7, we staff from 5am-11pm, must be able to work within these hours including weekends and holidays as needed. * Have 5+ years' experience as a cook in a high-volume professional kitchen. * Must have basic allergy knowledge. * Must have full knowledge of correct cooking temperatures of all vegetables and proteins, must be able to provide cutting tools needed to perform job as well as a calibrated food grade thermometer. * Must have full knowledge of the state's health codes as well as the eco sure food safety and health report. * Active Food handler's certification. * Requires strong organizational skills. * Must be able to work independently. * Able to be on your feet for long periods of time. * Able to lift at least 50 pounds. * At least 21 years of age * Have a desire to exceed expectations and goals to take that next step to Exec Sous in the future by continuing to develop in their craft as an individual. Willing to elevate skills and abilitites by continued learning outside of internal training. Compensation Range The compensation for this position is $26.00/Hr. - $30.00/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
