RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide spiritual care and emotional support to Bay Aging clients, based on referrals as well as chaplain-led initiative. Interventions include on-site chaplaincy visits including home visits. Clients will include, but are not limited to, lower-income older adults, persons living with chronic conditions, caregivers, persons experiencing homelessness, and persons living with dementia.
Develop a community chaplain program of spiritual care for the greater Lancaster County area. The Chaplain will engage in an extensive and thorough orientation to the region, become thoroughly acquainted with the people and resources within the County, and discern opportunities for spiritual care therein, including:
Community agencies and services (e.g. nursing homes, food banks, addiction treatment centers, criminal justice facilities, Social Services, and health facilities including Rappahannock General Hospital and the Northern Neck-Middlesex Free Health Clinic)

Participate in community outreach to increase awareness of Bay Aging's services, including chaplaincy services.

Responsibilities
The Spiritual Caregiver is responsible for providing spiritual care to Hospice patients and their families.
• Demonstrates understanding of the difference between being a rabbi/imam/pastor/priest/etc. and being a Spiritual Caregiver.
• Demonstrates proficiency in providing spiritual care to persons of all races, ages, genders, sexual orientation, social class and mental/emotional status
• Provide spiritual care to persons of beliefs that are different than the Spiritual Caregiver's beliefs by championing cultural and spiritual humility
• Demonstrates ability for patient/caregiver to lead the spiritual conversation, for the Spiritual Caregiver to walk alongside him/her in his/her spiritual journey and refraining from sharing one's own beliefs unless asked to do so by the patient/caregivers.
• Demonstrates knowledge of a wide range of spiritual resources to support each person's belief system, provide resources as appropriate, and network with other religious leaders in the community in order to refer patients/caregivers to these leaders when necessary.
Qualifications
Education
Preferred: Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education or Master's degree in theology, divinity, pastoral care,
philosophy, religion or related discipline.
Required: Two units of Clinical Pastoral Education or Bachelor's degree in theology, divinity, pastoral care,
philosophy, religion or related discipline.
Experience
Preferred: Two years Hospice experience.
Required: A minimum of two years' experience in a health care setting and/or related pastoral experience.

Responsibilities
Enhabit Home Health & Hospice is searching for a Chaplain with hospice experience to join our team. The Chaplain is a member of the interdisciplinary team and reports to the Hospice Branch Director.
Providing direct spiritual support and/or counsel to patients/families in keeping with patients/families' beliefs.
Working with staff, clergy and community groups to enhance their sensitivity to the spiritual needs of patients/families and reporting on services as indicated.

RequirementsMaster of Divinity or equivalent from an accredited seminary.Must be ordained and in good standing with their respective denomination.A minimum of five years in a pastoral setting with an emphasis and some experience in long-term care, acute care, or hospice care. Experience in a CCRC setting is preferred.
