We are searching for a Chaplain -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide pastoral care, spiritual counseling and guidance to patients, families and staff of the hospital. The primary function of the Chaplain - Spiritual Care Coordinator is to provide spiritual care in the home to terminally ill patients and their families. You will provide an assessment of the patient's and family's spiritual needs and to provide counseling to meet those needs. Also, you will make reasonable efforts to facilitate visits by local clergy, pastoral counselors or other individuals who can support the patient's spiritual needs. The Chaplain also participates as a core member of the Interdisciplinary Group. Background You Need: One (1) year experience as a Chaplain in a health care institution preferred, with experience for a hospice agency heavily preferred. This may mean helping them reach a recliner in their room, walk to the bathroom, or down the hall. Assist released patients in getting safely to their vehicles outside. * Assist patients with hygiene needs. This can include a full bed bath, an assisted bed bath, or retrieving towels and soap for ambulatory patients. * Help the bedside nurse with tube insertions such as an NG tube, rectal tube, or catheter. You may be holding a cup of water, holding the patient or providing the nurse with supplies as needed, and cleaning up after. * Help the bedside nurse with any wound checks or dressing changes.
