Job Summary and Qualifications
The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. What you will do in this role:
You will perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
You will administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
You will assist with placement of artificial airways. You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
You will monitor patient for therapeutic response. You will notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
You will assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
You will respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
What qualifications you will need:
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Ensure the new resident is comfortable and has hydration available (if permitted). Assists the resident in unpacking belongings and complete the inventory sheet. Label the items as needed. Explain the laundry process and post the correct laundry sign in the designated location. Demonstrate the use of the call bell, bed controls, TV, TV remote, and room lighting. Explain the admission process, basic facility routines (therapy, bathing, dining). If permitted, take the resident and/or family on a brief tour of the facility. If there is a roommate, assist in the introductions.
4) If a resident or family member expressed any concerns, direct the information to the appropriate person for prompt resolution of the issue.
5) If able to address the concern, do so promptly and follow-up with the resident and/or family to ensure satisfaction.
6) Make sure all empty rooms are clean and prepped for new admissions.
7) Check resident names out side of the doors for accuracy and correct as needed.
8) Assist with resident room changes by packing and unpacking belongings, changing door names, changing laundry signs, and resident orientation to the new room and roommate.
9) Accompany transport driver as requested.
10) Assist with packing and labeling resident belonging for discharge as assigned.

15) Ensure use of positioning devices, restraints, splints, braces, immobilizers, cushions, etc. are utilized per the individualized plan of care.
16) Perform restorative tasks as assigned per the individualized resident care plan to include: dining, ambulation, ADL tasks, standing, transfers with or without an assistive device, bed mobility, exercise, bowel and bladder re-training, contracture management (active and/or passive range of motion), supportive device application, adaptive equipment, positioning, etc.
17) Straighten residents' room and closet, clean any spills, and remove trash as needed.
18) Obtain vital signs, height, weight, and record in the clinical record per facility policy.
19) Monitor and record resident intake and output per policy.
20) Notify the nurse of any abnormal vital sign readings or changes in intake or output promptly.
21) Encourage and assist residents to attend recreational activities.
22) Assist residents to prepare for meals and snacks ensuring proper attire, position, and location. Ensure the proper assistive devices/equipment are available and offered. Document food and fluid consumption per facility policy.
