KBR is seeking a highly motivated and career-oriented Carpenter to join our team supporting a government client with locations in Maryland. In this role you will be part of the acquisition management team.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine and preventative maintenance of building woodwork and associated equipment.
Design, build, install, and repair structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials, including furniture, stairways, door frames, partitions, and rafters.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp requirements and provide accurate work estimates.
Cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other material (e.g., fiberglass and drywall) according to measurements.
Inspect building frameworks (e.g., walls, roofs) to identify the need for repairs or replacements and ensure structural integrity.
Liaise with other maintenance teams to coordinate renovations or major repair tasks.
Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment during all construction activities.
Maintain accurate records of materials inventory and task completion to ensure accountability and project tracking.

SUMMARY OF POSITION
Kinsley is currently seeking driven and experienced Carpenters to join our growing team. Primary responsibilities include constructing, repairing, and installing building frameworks, fixtures and structures using wood and other materials and performing many basic tasks that require physical labor on construction sites. Majority of the projects will be based in and around Hagerstown, MD.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Handling of wood, plastic, and other material.
Knowledge of use with nails, screws, staples, and adhesives as well as various hand and power tools such as circular saws, nail guns, sanders, tape measures, squares, levels, brooms etc.
Install windows, doors, cabinets, and other various fixtures.
Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris and possible hazards and ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
Familiarity with bracing, scaffolding and temporary structures.
Follow blueprints and building plans.
Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.

REQUIREMENTS
Basic math skills to properly measure for the number of materials needed.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and moving whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials.
Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods and sometimes in unfavorable weather conditions.

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University is welcoming applications for Props Artisans and Carpenters. CATF, a LORT D summer festival and leading producer of contemporary plays, is dedicated to telling diverse stories and developing new American theater. The festival premieres or produces multiple plays per season in 3-4 venues. CATF is committed to supporting the unique needs of new work while fostering an environment of fun and company community. Located 90 minutes from DC, CATF makes its home in one of America's coolest small towns, Shepherdstown, WV.
CATF's Props Department consists of a Prop Shop Manager, an Assistant Props Manager, two to three Props Artisans/Carpenters, and two to three Props Interns who all work as a team to produce and maintain props for the festival's six productions. Prop Artisans and Carpenters work under the supervision of the Prop Shop Manager and Assistant Props Manager and assist in the guidance of Props Interns. The prop shop is large, well outfitted, and is located in the same complex as the rehearsal halls and 2 of the 3 theaters.
Applicants should be able to lift and carry 50lbs and have should have well rounded knowledge of props skills, including carpentry, sewing, upholstering, crafting, and painting. Positivity, flexibility, a desire to work with changing scripts, and equal comfort with teamwork and self-directed projects are essential.
Position is seasonal, from June 3 to August 6 (with a possible extension through early August, which can be discussed during the interview). All staff and interns are provided free, air-conditioned housing within walking distance of the theaters and workspaces (also air conditioned,) 1-2 meals per day during tech, and free use of university gym, pool, and laundry facilities.
