    GOAL To perform skilled work in milling, fabrication of doors, cabinets, shelves, bulletin and chalk boards, tables, dollies, and louvers; to repair furniture including new tops, as well as modifications to structures, in a responsible and accurate manner. ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE * Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program. * Satisfactory completion of the Broward County School District's Carpentry apprenticeship Program. * Must possess the ability to effect construction or repairs from drawings or sketches; estimate materials, supplies, and labor costs. * Must have the ability to use all power and hand tools associated with the trade and perform all tasks with little or no supervision or assistance. * Must have thorough knowledge of wood and be able to determine the proper wood for each job; considerable knowledge of the types and availability of hardware supplies. * Must have ability to work effectively from ladders and scaffolding with due regard to safety for self and others. * Must provide own hand tools. * Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and be able to work well with others. * Must have ability to assume responsibility and effect repairs/complete tasks without assistance. * Willing to answer emergency calls at all hours, including off hours. * Must have a valid Florida driver's license. This position will include pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. * Computer skills as required for the position OR * Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program. * Six (6) years of recent professionally paid carpentry experience. Initially must successfully pass either the rough or finish carpentry specialty contractors license issued by Broward County to qualify as a School Board of Broward County carpenter.
