RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-Setup trailers
-Studies blueprints, sketches or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard. Measures the dimensions of structure of fixture to be fabricated
-Build decks, stairs, roofs and other temporary structures between office units, plan tables, install shelves, setup tool trailers and/or conex's, silt fences and/or straw bales, setup site per erosion control plan
-Hand-set forms and/or assemble the gang forms

This is an exciting time for NWFEM! We have recently received a large backing from our biggest customer and are looking to level up our carpentry game. In addition to carpenter tasks, our budding night construction department is a fully capable and operational facilities maintenance team, able to handle projects small and large, utilizing existing team members and subcontractors. Our ideal candidate is an expert in their craft willing to teach others but also willing to do other facilities maintenance related tasks when needed. A capable and empathetic leader, able to handle the practical application of organizational tools alongside extensive painting experience to bid, manage, and complete a wide range of painting projects, large and small. You will help us create standards for the tools and processes we use to efficiently complete high-quality jobs for our customers. You will also help create a training and certification program for the future growth of all NWFEM facilities maintenance staff. Finally, you will bring a great attitude and open-mindedness to everything you do.
Available Shifts
Multiple night shifts available. All our night shifts start at 7 PM and run until about 5 AM. Our technicians generally work four 10 hour shifts. Three days off.
Basic Qualifications
10+ years of relevant experience in the construction industry, focus in custom commercial preferred.
2+ year as a lead carpenter or similar construction management role in addition to journey level experience.
Physical requirements include: standing, bending, squatting, sitting, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motion of hands and wrists, walking, hearing and climbing
Must be able to easily read blue prints, do framing layout, interpret shop drawings, structural plans, design plans, and elevations.
Expert level skills in framing, window and door installation, siding and trim install, interior trim, finish work, casework, wood refinishing and cabinet installations.
Completion of a relevant finish carpentry training program or apprenticeship or at least five year of carpentry experience
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Commercial remodeling experience (kitchen, bathroom, finish carpentry)
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
High school diploma or GED certificate or College
Able to use common hand tools and power tools
Excellent understanding of apple products/software such as iPad, iPhone, and iOS
Must have a valid driver's license
Journey-level carpentry skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
NWFEM tackles a wide range of various types of facilities maintenance and repair. Your primary role in this position would be the go-to-employee for completion/guidance of all carpentry related work tasks and projects.
Already able to complete other types of work orders we receive, such as painting, drywall, framing, tile work, ceiling repair, etc., or eager and able to learn
Measure, cut, and install various fixtures and millwork for doors, windows, ceiling panels, staircases, decking, furniture, etc.
Perform finish and trim carpentry work according to plans and specifications
Erect scaffolding or ladders as needed
Order, record, and track materials needed for jobs ahead of time in order to meet customer expectations for project timelines
Ability to take accurate measurements, draw up design specs for customer approval, and being in compliance with building codes
Basic electrical/plumbing knowledge
Ability to come up with solutions for complex constructability challenges to maintain design intent
Able to manage small teams of carpenter and laborers
Implement best practices and industry standard construction methods
Provide positive training and direction for carpenters and laborers as needed
