Job Title: Fire Captain Reports To: Battalion Chief Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly) Wage Scale: AEMT $78,886.00 - $112,694.00 Paramedic $89,718.00 - $123,527.00 This is a Full-Time hourly position performing duties as assigned and responding to emergency medical and fire incidents as part of the Syracuse Fire Department Emergency Services Program. Fire Captains are responsible for management of a fire shift, cooperating with other captains to provide leadership and personnel management, training, emergency response and preparedness, fire prevention, safety, resource management, and community relations. Fire Captains work a 48/96 schedule, equivalent to 2,912 hours per year. Overtime is based on actual hours worked over 106 hours in a 14-day work period. This position also includes but is not limited to: * Planning, prioritizing, assigning, supervising, assisting and evaluating the work of staff involved in fire suppression operations, hazardous materials containment, and medical emergency incidents. * Fire investigation; obtaining and preserving evidence at a fire scene. * Assists in coordinating the cleaning, maintenance, and repairs of fire suppression and EMS equipment, and station facilities. * Conducts annual business inspections and preplans as assigned. * Reviewing reports, completing daily documentation, and managing daily shift operations. * Responding to all hazard emergencies including but not limited to, fire suppression, hazardous materials containment, fire investigation and technical rescue. * Responding to medical emergencies; administer CPR, perform trauma management, handle pediatric emergencies and victim transportation. * Assisting in educating and training the public in fire and medical programs designed for community awareness. * Attending training to achieve and maintain all necessary certifications and skills to accomplish assigned duties. * Working closely with other firefighting personnel to accomplish common goals and objectives outlined by the Fire Department. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Knowledge of: EMS and resuscitation techniques and their application; technical and administrative principles and practices, methods and techniques of fire suppression, prevention programs and emergency medical services; Operation, maintenance and uses of modern firefighting equipment; Local and national Building Fire Codes and the City's demographics. * Skilled in: Operation of the applicable tools and equipment; Working under stress and using good judgment in emergency situations. * Ability to: Present various options and approaches to problem identification and resolution; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; analyze situations and adopt a reasonable course of action; Work irregular shift hours. Individual is exposed to hazards associated with fighting fires and rendering emergency medical assistance including, but not limited to smoke, noxious odors, fumes, chemicals, liquid chemicals, solvents and oils. Work can be under a variety of unfavorable conditions including harsh weather, poor or no lighting, extremes in temperatures, all types of weather conditions, electrical hazards and exposure to communicable diseases and blood-borne pathogens in body fluids. The Banquet Captain is responsible for the direction and execution of special events and banquets for all Company venues and outlets in accordance with The Lodge at Blue Sky standards. They direct, implement and maintain a service standard and team philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff. Compile and fill all banquet requisitions and provide floor plan set up assistance etc. Monitor service standards compliance, venue operations, and staff performance in all phases of service and job functions, ensuring that all procedures are carried out to department standards; rectify any deficiencies with respective personnel. Responsible for all Banquet Team staff performance evaluations, making sure they are completed in a timely manner. Inspect all aspects of the Banquet venue environment, ensuring compliance with standards of cleanliness and order. Direct respective personnel to rectify deficiencies. Review all BEOs for GOIs and special requests. Ensure that staff is informed. Be familiar with all resort service/features and local attractions and activities to respond accurately to any guest inquiry. Monitor and handle guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction. Monitor guest reactions and confer frequently with service staff to ensure guest satisfaction. Conduct appropriate daily, weekly, monthly staff meetings. Foster and promote a cooperative working climate, maximizing productivity and team morale. Assist with the development of annual F&B budget; this is to include: average checks (food, liquor/beer and wine) and cover counts by outlet and by meal period, labor (staffing guides) by department, cost of sale percentages, and other expenses. Set pars for china/glass/silver & linen for Banquet venues as needed. Stay current on industry trends and competition. Take necessary steps to ensure achievement of all financial goals. Assist with determination of banquet pricing to include room rental fees, food and beverage cost, corkage charges, etc. Participate in and support resort and company efforts towards sustainability and environmental initiatives. Attend designated meetings, menu and wine tastings. Lead daily line-ups. Stay current on Blue Sky wine list. Expedite on the floor or in kitchen as business demands. Maintain china, glass, silver and F&B linen inventory spreadsheets as relate to banquet. Updating price changes monthly. Attend off-property events as The Lodge at Blue Sky/Yuta representative as time permits. Perform other duties as directed, developed, or assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Required High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum 21 years of age. Minimum of 1 year experience in food and beverage management. Two years experience as an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager or Banquet Manager, preferably at a Mobil four star (or equivalent) or better resort. Current manager's food handling certificate. Current manager's On-Premise Alcohol Service certification. Knowledge of various food services styles Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and coworkers to their understanding. Ability to communicate legibly. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Familiarity with food/beverage and labor cost control. Strong knowledge of wines, with focus on Napa Valley and California wineries and appellations. A valid driver's license. Qualifications * Proven experience and knowledge of boating operation and safety * Must possess license required by state law * Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal * Must be able to work independently with limited supervision * Work involves exposure to unusual elements and working outdoors in extreme temperatures * Must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
