This organization provides maritime test capabilities for the development, assessment and demonstration of NGC products and systems.
In this role, the captains responsibilities for Northrop Grumman owned research vessels will be as follows:
Conduct development test activities aboard ship in the Chesapeake Bay, Delaware Bay, and North Atlantic. Responsible for activities leading up to mission events. Pre-test planning, safety operations assessments, cost and logistics. Responsible for all engineering activities for vessel modifications, installations of units under test on ships and boats, including mechanical, electrical and cooling requirements. Experience with data recording, telemetry and commercial maritime systems instrumentation. Must be able to work in open water test environment and experience working with test participants including onshore test sites, other ships, real time operations with our test aircraft, and littoral targets. Candidate must have a solid background with commercial navigation testing and DOD surface ship and aircraft test environment. Must be able to work within Northrop Grumman, USCG and DOD requirements.
Must be familiar with piloting small craft and ships up to 100 ton. Other maritime duties, as assigned.
Basic Requirements for a Research Fleet Captain:
BS in Engineering with 12 years of related experience; or a Master's degree with 10 years of related experience; or 16 years of related experience will be accepted in lieu of degree.
US Coast Guard Masters License of 100 Ton or greater.
Experience in Commercial/DOD Maritime and aircraft test operations and evaluation.
Experience in Sonar, Radar and Navigation System Test and Evaluation.
Active TS/SCI with the ability to obtain and maintain CI Polygraph.
US Citizenship required.
Preferred Requirements for a Research Fleet Captain:
Experience and Knowledge of ROV/ UUV operation and implementation.
