Position Description The Senior Captain is responsible for the safe conduct of flights to which they are assigned. This individual must ensure compliance with all Federal, state, local and foreign regulations, as well as the policies and procedures specified in the company operations manual. When assigned to the flight, the Senior Captain has the final authority in the operation of the aircraft. The more senior pilot will have overall charge of the airplane, unless otherwise assigned by the Chief Pilot. The Senior Captain will execute scheduled flights and are on-call for shorter notice trips. Senior Captains are the Company's most visible representative to the passengers and must act in a professional manner ensuring an efficient and safe operation. As Senior Captain, you can be assigned other roles that report to the chief pilot such as Safety Officer, or Training Captain. This position reports to the Chief Pilot and can expect to travel approximately 140 days/year. Responsibilities Comply with operational schedules and directives governing aircraft operation. Perform and supervise preflight inspections. Ensure that the aircraft is airworthy and properly equipped, including approving services for fuel, oil, oxygen, supplies, and maintenance away from base. Keep up to date with new policies, procedures, FAA and ICAO regulations and industry safety best practices. Adhere to company Flight Operations Manual, SOPs, International Operations Manual and checklist philosophy. Study weather conditions at destination, enroute, alternate airports and departure points, and all applicable NOTAMs. Prepare flight plans and ensure compliance with applicable requirements. Ensure the aircraft is clean, safe, and prepared for flight with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengers. Manage the flight crew to ensure each trip is flown safely, effectively and efficiently. Make necessary decisions to start, delay, or alter flight routes in response to changing conditions. Ensure no flight commences if a crew member is incapacitated or impaired. Notify appropriate authorities of any incidents involving the aircraft. Ensure the security of the aircraft while in operation. Provide excellent customer service to passengers by meeting and greeting passengers, loading baggage onto the aircraft and assisting passengers upon arrival at the destination. Debrief passengers about safety procedures once on board. Perform duties as pilot flying, or pilot monitoring - and assign roles as necessary. Report hazardous weather conditions to air traffic services. Maintain an image that positively reflects CC Industries. Serve as a mentor and positive role model for all team members by demonstrating adherence to company policies and industry best practices. Provides leadership to functional teams and assigned projects within department. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications A valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate. A current 1st Class Medical Certificate. A valid passport. A FCC Restricted Radio Operator Certificate. The ability to travel extensively domestically and to Mexico, Canada, Caribbean, and occasionally other international destinations. The ability to work a non-standard work schedule, to include weekends and holidays, and some on-call assignments. The ability to pass FAA Class 1 physical examination every 6 months. The ability to meet the requirements of CFR Part 61.58 in aircraft to be flown. An expert knowledge of FAA operating rules & regulations. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills (written and verbal). Superior customer service skills and high degree of professionalism. G280 type rating preferred but not mandatory. A four-year degree in aviation or a related field is preferred but not required. Over 10 years of experience operating as a Captain or similar role. Minimum of 5,000 flight hours, including at least two Jet type ratings. 2,000 hours PIC minimum. 2500 hours multi-engine minimum. 2000 hours turbojet minimum. Ability to coordinate and manage projects. Highly motivated and seeks out new learning/development opportunities which promote personal and professional growth. Essential Duties & Responsibilities * The Captain is the company's onboard manager and representative. * Responsible for the safe and efficient operation and navigation, in all weather conditions, of the vessel as well as the safety of all persons on board. * Ensures that the vessel is properly manned in accordance with the vessel's COI and that accurate passenger counts are conducted and recorded. * Responsible for the training of the vessel crew and adherence to all applicable United States Coast Guard, Federal and State laws, including Company policies and procedures. Evaluate the capabilities and performance of each crew member, and keep the Operations Manager informed. * Responsible to immediately report any accident, incident, or unusual occurrence, by the quickest available means, to the appropriate manager. Captain must also ensure that the company's Accident/Incident/Unusual Occurrence forms and/or USCG Form 2692 is filled out in an accurate, clear, concise, complete, and timely manner. * Responsible for the appearance and cleanliness of the vessel. * Performing specified preventative maintenance, including but not limited to gangways, diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, water (potable, raw, black, and gray), fire suppression, communications, and navigation. * Ensures periodic engine room inspections are conducted while underway. * Document and report maintenance activities and deficiencies in the company's Wheel-House Software. * Must be conversant with the vessels Security Plan to ensure that security drills are conducted and recorded as required by company policy and logged a timely manner. * Conduct Safety Drills as required by USCG regulations and as may be outlined by Company Policy. * Responsible for conducting daily job briefings at the beginning and end of the shift. The completion of the job briefing must be acknowledged and logged in the vessel's logbook. * Responsible for the conduct of all crew to ensure that all company policies are being adhered to. * Ensure adherence to Coast Guard rules and regulations, and other federal and local rules and regulation. * Ensure strict compliance to Emergency Response Plan. * Additional job duties as assigned. Essential Responsibilities/Duties Responsible for safe operation of the Gulfstream G450 aircraft. Responsible for conducting flights in a safe and prudent manner in accordance with, but not limited to the following items: Reviewing the maintenance status of the aircraft. The conduct of a proper pre-flight inspection in accordance with the approved Aircraft Flight Manual. A complete check of weather and facilities along the route to be flown and airports to be used, including alternate airports. Ensure the flight is conducted in accordance with the policies and procedures of Solairus Aviation and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations. Ensure the safety of all passengers, aircraft and crew. Accurate completion of all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures. Qualifications Total time = 3000 hours PIC = 1500 hours MEL = 1500 hours MEL PIC = 500 hours Time in Turbo Jet = 500 hours Instrument = 250 hours Specific Qualifications/Certifications Type rated on Gulfstream G450 or comparable aircraft First class medical required.
