Position Description The Senior Captain is responsible for the safe conduct of flights to which they are assigned. Perform and supervise preflight inspections. Ensure that the aircraft is airworthy and properly equipped, including approving services for fuel, oil, oxygen, supplies, and maintenance away from base. Keep up to date with new policies, procedures, FAA and ICAO regulations and industry safety best practices. Adhere to company Flight Operations Manual, SOPs, International Operations Manual and checklist philosophy. Study weather conditions at destination, enroute, alternate airports and departure points, and all applicable NOTAMs. Prepare flight plans and ensure compliance with applicable requirements. Ensure the aircraft is clean, safe, and prepared for flight with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengers. Manage the flight crew to ensure each trip is flown safely, effectively and efficiently. Make necessary decisions to start, delay, or alter flight routes in response to changing conditions. Ensure no flight commences if a crew member is incapacitated or impaired. Notify appropriate authorities of any incidents involving the aircraft. Ensure the security of the aircraft while in operation.
