About the Position
Job Title: 100-Ton Maritime Boat Captain
Position Overview:
The 100-ton maritime master is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a vessel, ensuring its compliance with all applicable maritime regulations, safety standards, and operational procedures. This position requires extensive knowledge of maritime navigation, vessel operation, weather conditions, and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Vessel Navigation:
Operate and navigate the vessel on scheduled routes.
Plan and adjust routes based on weather conditions, tides, and other environmental factors.
Ensure accurate charting, steering, and positioning of the vessel.
Crew Supervision:
Oversee the crew, providing direction and guidance during operations.
Ensure crew members are properly trained and perform their duties safely and efficiently.
Assign tasks to crew members as needed and maintain discipline and morale on board.
Safety and Emergency Management:
Enforce safety protocols and ensure the crew and passengers are familiar with emergency procedures.
Conduct regular safety drills and inspections of life-saving equipment (life vests, rafts, fire extinguishers, etc.).
Act quickly and efficiently in case of emergency situations, such as accidents or sudden weather changes.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure the vessel complies with all local, state, and federal maritime laws and regulations (e.g., U.S. Coast Guard standards).
Keep required logs, including vessel maintenance, fuel usage, and crew hours.
Ensure that the vessel's safety equipment is inspected and maintained according to regulatory standards.
Communication and Reporting:
Maintain clear communication with port authorities, passengers, and other maritime vessels.
Report daily operations and any incidents to company management or authorities.
Ensure the vessel is properly documented and all permits are in place.
Maintenance and Upkeep:
Oversee routine maintenance of the vessel to ensure it is in good working order.
Perform or coordinate minor repairs and inspections.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of the vessel's interior and exterior.
Customer Service (if applicable):
Provide excellent customer service for passenger-based vessels, ensuring comfort and safety during the trip.
Address any passenger concerns or questions professionally and courteously.
Required Qualifications:
Maritime Certification: USCG Captain's License (100-Ton or equivalent), with appropriate experience for the type of vessel (205' x 40') OSV
Experience: At least 2-5 years of experience in boat operation or maritime industry (commercial). Prior Military Experience is valuable.
Navigation Skills: Strong knowledge of maritime navigation, chart plotting, and weather interpretation.
Safety Knowledge: Understanding of safety regulations, lifesaving equipment, and emergency procedures.
Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods, lifting, and responding to emergencies.
Communication Skills: Clear communication skills for working with crew, passengers, and authorities.
First Aid Certification: Basic first aid and CPR certifications are often required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of specific vessel systems (Cummins Engines, propulsion, electrical systems).

· Act as Captain / Crew on vessels ranging from 25' to 100' in legnth undergoing testing, trials, and safety evaluation(s) depending on mission and qualifications.

Requirements
· Current United States Coast Guard (USCG) 50-ton Near Coastal Master license, or equivalent certification/experience from military or Government service.

· Working knowledge of FCC marine radio operations procedures, including marine distress communications.
· Understanding and ability to repair watercraft within a shop environment to support Naval Assets
· Ability to pass background check and physical due to the hazardous at-sea working environment.
