Prior experience in the marine tourism industry and particularly on passenger vessels is desirable. Must be able to build team and maintain crew morale to provide a quality experience for our guests. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Conduct tours as directed according to descriptions in sales literature and procedures in policy manual. Supervise all aspects of tour delivery and tour quality. Manage and direct crew members in the execution of all their job responsibilities; build a productive and efficient team; maintain high morale over course of season. Supervise and assist in daily maintenance: cleaning, sewage and fuel pumping, restocking. Coordinate and assist with routine maintenance; painting, changing oil, etc. Communicate with Port Engineer to identify problems and expedite repairs; assist with repairs, as needed. Supervise passenger boarding, safety orientation/demonstration, emergency response and crowd control. Plan and execute emergency drills, equipment checks and safety meetings in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations and AMT policy. Maintain all navigational equipment in good working order; keep logs and ship/company documents, as directed. Provide daily operations report to office. Minimum Qualifications: Experience on passenger carrying vessels. Must have ability to speak on P.A. system, and to provide commentary. Must be drug free (pre-employment screening and enrollment in random drug testing program is Coast Guard required). Must have ability to conduct USCG drills Required minimum 100-ton license. Location Responsibilities * Responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of your vessel at all times unless it requires a mechanic. The vessel will be cleaned after every trip. * All rods, reels, fish holds, coolers, down riggers shall all be rinsed and cleaned as well as the head and interior of vessel. * All trash will be removed and bagged and taken to the dumpster by the captain. No trash will be left directly on the dock. * All cups, towels, coffee, and drinks are the responsibility of the Captain and will be provided by the Marina. * Captains can be required to clean fish at any time when asked by the Marina Manager. * Captains will record all fueling in a fuel Log. * A mandatory uniform will be required while on all Salmon Falls fishing trips. * All fish will be separated by the captain into the guest binds and tagged before being processed as well as hung up for photos by the Captain and dockhand. * Captains will give the guest a full 8-hour trip to leave no earlier than 630 a.m. and be back no later than 4 p.m. unless specified by Marina Manager. * Captains will clock in when doing work outside of their regular trip pay. * All engine fluids will be checked before leaving the marina as well as emptying the waste when the proper mileage is met offshore. * All mechanical issues will be reported to Marina Manager ASAP to then be communicated to Mechanic. * Captains will be required to learn local history and Mountain ranges in order to give our guest a great experience. Port Notification: Arranging all services in each port prior to Bowhead Transport vessels arrival and departure. Scheduling moorage and services can include but is not limited to: Vessel Moorage, Fueling, Provisioning, Transportation, Assistance Equipment Rental, Laydown Yard Space, Assistance from other company personnel, etc. All port arrangements, contact names and telephone numbers will be provided to each Bowhead Transport vessel in advance of arrival.     The Deckhand executes duties to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of the vessel. This position may also provide stand watches for the Bridge Watch Officer's navigation purposes. Licensed deckhands will operate small inflatable tenders and DIBs as directed by the Chief Mate for the transportation of guests on scenic rides and transportation to and from shore. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Manage mooring lines during docking and un-docking procedures, handle anchor winches during anchor procedures, set, take, and secure the gangway, ensure its safety for guest and crew use, and assist them while using the gangway. Perform watch duties while underway, anchored, or in port, as assigned by the Chief Mate. Holds a position on the ship's Emergency Station Bill. Must meet requirements of Emergency Station Bill for both drills and actual emergencies to include fire, flooding, man overboard, abandon ship, medical, and spill response. Perform a variety of tasks as assigned by the Chief Mate. These may include janitorial duties, upkeep and maintenance of the vessel, and guest services. Perform engineering and security rounds as Chief Mate and Chief Engineer directed. While on bridge watch, assist the officer on watch as directed. Specific duties such as steering, chart work, lookout, and use of bridge electronics will vary with the areas of operation and with the officer of the watch. When on duty on the bridge, those duties shall take precedence over all else and require the utmost vigilance. While in port, perform duties such as assisting in baggage handling, laundry loading and unloading, taking in potable water, taking out garbage, cleaning windows, and vessel washdown. On turnaround day, responsible for taking on the ship's stores, assisting with baggage movements, and cleaning all exterior areas that cannot be completed while underway. Interacting with guests in a friendly and courteous manner constantly. Provide friendly and professional service while assisting guests on and off the vessel at the gangway, escorting guests to their stateroom, working on stateroom maintenance projects, performing safety rounds, and while the bridge is open. Enhance guest experience by actively searching for wildlife and bringing sightings to the attention of the officer on watch and the Naturalist. Safe operation of zodiacs and DIBs without guests and their daily upkeep while working in conjunction with the vessel engineer. Follows prescribed hours set forth by the vessel's daily roster. Maintain awareness of basic safety rules, workplace safety, and respect for the environment. Special projects may be assigned as required by the business. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) High School Diploma 1-3 years in the maritime industry with progressively responsible experience. Licensed Deckhand/Zodiac Captain: The license required is a Master's license for a 100-ton inland vessel. Requires strong communication, organizational skills, and writing skills. Must be experienced at multi-tasking and remain flexible in a demanding and fast-paced environment. Microsoft Office experience. Valid US driver's license and a clean driving record. Must pass a security background check and DOT drug test. Preferred Qualifications Experience in tourism and cruise industry. License endorsement required for “Unlimited Radar Observer”.
