This Senior Buyer plays a critical role in managing a high volume of demand recognition for NanoString's instrumentation, consumables, chemistry, and related materials and or services on a daily basis, while supporting the Supply Chain organization in Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Relationship Management. The work is highly interdisciplinary and will involve working closely with biologists, scientists, design engineers, software engineers, Supply Chain, Quality, Legal and external OEM manufacturers to support commercial product and partnership management.
Requirements:
• 5 + years of Purchasing or Supply Chain experience
• A college education with a four-year degree (preferably in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering) and/or 8+ years of equivalent directly related work experience.
• Experience in ISO, GMP, or FDA regulated environments preferred
• Experience with an ERP System, preferably Microsoft Dynamics NAV
• Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and detail-oriented skills
• The ability to work independently and cross-functionally to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities and deadlines
• Ability to manage communications from both internal and external sources
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (i.e. complex functions)
• This position may require up to 15% domestic and international travel
• APICS or ISM certification is preferred
Essential Responsibilities:
Procure materials, supplies, capital equipment, and services for all NanoString functional areas.
Receive requisitions and verify specifications, quantity, and delivery requirements
Develop and investigate supply sources. May issue request for quotations, proposals, or bids for those items not covered by existing purchasing arrangements
Continually work to drive down procurement costs, increase margins, improve quality to specification, as well as improve on-time delivery
Supply purchasing forecasts to suppliers as required
Facilitate and monitor contracts with supply chain partners
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assure materials are received to specification, on-time, and at the lowest possible cost
Build internal and external relationships through problem solving and demonstrating accountability
Manage over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in specifications, quantities, delivery dates, and prices as well as report such changes to the interested parties in a timely manner as required
Act as supplier's primary contact for ECO's and deviation requests.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels consistent with targeted inventory goals and as set by management
Maintain accuracy of ERP system's Item Master and Purchasing databases
Work under general supervision with latitude for independent judgement
May consult with senior peers on certain projects
Target Base Salary Range:
$74,,000-$105,000
Base salary is an integral part of NanoString's total compensation package. Base salary considers an individual's skills, experience, and competitive market value. The base salary range represent what NanoString pays for a job within a salary grade based on external market data in comparison to similar positions from other companies in our industry. Employees generally enter a salary grade at the lower-to-mid-point in the range.
Other compensation elements include a discretionary annual bonus, incentive compensation for sales roles,, comprehensive benefit plans and paid time off, including designated holidays.
