Marathon Petroleum Company LP (MPC) has a position available for a professional light products transport driver in South Gate, CA. Our drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of petroleum products to regional terminals, refineries, and various other locations. Transport drivers independently follow specified policies, procedures and standards, under the general supervision of local fleet management.
This position is represented by the Teamsters Union Local 986 and the terms and conditions of employment are governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Job Responsibilities
Perform pre-trip inspection on equipment in alignment with MPC policy and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Check tank truck/trailer or tractor/trailer for general operating requirements and make sure that all required equipment is available and in good operating condition. Note inspection and deficiencies on the pre-trip inspection form.
Drive a tank truck/trailer or tractor/trailer to transport product in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. Obey all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Follow MPC and site specific standard operating procedures for the loading and offloading process.
Perform post-trip inspection on equipment in alignment with MPC policy and DOT regulations. Complete all regulatory and customary paperwork. Ensure equipment is ready for the next shift.
Communicate all incidents, including safety and environmental concerns, according to company procedures.
Report all equipment issues in a timely manner.
Follow, maintain, and adhere to all safety rules and operating procedures, including all DOT regulations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.
Persons performing service in this position classification will be expected to perform medium work, which involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work, we determine that they can also do light and sedentary work.

Qualified applicants, who meet the minimum qualifications, will participate in a written examination and technical oral interview, which will demonstrate the required knowledge and skill for this classification. The weight percentage of the examination and interview will be 50/50. Those applicants who receive a passing score on the written exam and oral interview will be placed on an Eligibility List. The top three ranks of candidates on the Eligibility List, who are ready, willing and able to accept the position, will be invited to the Final Selection Interview with the hiring authority.
The eligibility list will be certified for a period of one year. It will be used to fill current substitute and future permanent openings.
Current classified employees are eligible to hold an additional position based on the needs of the District and must be approved by the Human Resources Director.

Fingerprinting: Employees will be charged for processing their fingerprints at the time they are hired. The fingerprints are used to complete a confidential background investigation. Physical Examination: Newly hired employees must pass a qualifying Medical examination given by a District-appointed physician, which includes testing for illegal controlled substances.
Tuberculosis Exam: Newly hired employees must submit a Mantoux Skin screening and certificate of completion within the past 60 days that indicates freedom from active tuberculosis.
Immigration Reform and Control Act Of 1986: An Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) will be required along with the supporting documents listed on the I-9 form.

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, operates buses of various sizes to provide safe and efficient transportation services to citizens. Work Week Schedule: Monday - Friday; Weekends as needed

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Drive a variety of public transportation vehicles including buses of various sizes, mini-buses and handicapped buses, transporting citizens to designated locations in accordance with schedules and time lines.
Inspect bus prior to operation including checking items such as fuel, engine oil and water, tires and lights utilizing bus safety checklist.
Maintain vehicles in clean and proper working condition; report repair needs.
Participate in trip and transportation preparations including making and confirming reservations, obtaining information regarding weather and road conditions and selecting bus routes.
Provide assistance to passengers, such as assisting handicapped passengers entering or exiting the bus.
Observe legal, safe and defensive driving practices.
Maintain records and logs related to bus maintenance, safety and operation; prepare weekly monthly and quarterly statistical reports as assigned.
Perform basic first aid as necessary and in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
Performs related duties as required.

Education and Experience:
Sufficient education and training to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above and two (2) years' experience in the operation of public transportation vehicles including buses of various sizes.
Knowledge of:

License or Certificate:
Possession of a valid California A or B Driver's License; passenger endorsement; Medical Examiner's Certificate; California Verification of Transit Training (VTT) certificate. A current DMV driving record printout (K4) reflecting a good driving record. A valid First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate is desirable. Employees in this classification will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program., which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflect driving record.
