Position: Industrial Robot Teaching Operator (Full-Time, Hybrid)
Location: Englewood, Ohio (On-site at customer facilities with hybrid flexibility)
Role Description
The Industrial Robot Teaching Operator will be responsible for programming, operating, and optimizing industrial robots at various client manufacturing facilities. Frequent travel (more than half the month) and extended stays (over one month) at customer sites will be required. The operator will focus primarily on welding applications (spot and arc welding) and material handling processes. This role provides significant opportunities for professional growth, including potential advancement into leadership roles as the company expands its U.S. operations.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct on-site robot teaching and programming for industrial robots from leading manufacturers such as FANUC, YASKAWA, NACHI, KAWASAKI, ABB, and others.
Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot robot programs primarily for welding (spot welding, arc welding) and material handling processes.
Perform quality control and validation of robotic operations to ensure compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
Collaborate closely with customer engineering teams and internal colleagues to address technical challenges proactively.
Document work thoroughly, prepare technical reports, and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Participate actively in training sessions and continuous learning opportunities provided both in the U.S. and through the parent company in Japan.
QualificationsRequired:
Proven hands-on experience in industrial robot teaching and programming (experience with FANUC, YASKAWA, NACHI, KAWASAKI, ABB robots highly preferred).
Mechanical aptitude and ability to utilize standard hand tools and industrial equipment.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse, international teams.
High school diploma or equivalent education.
Preferred:
Technical certifications or formal training in robotics, automation engineering, or related fields.

Work Environment and Compensation
Salary: Competitive (Negotiable based on experience and qualifications), plus various allowances and potential retention bonus based on skill level.
Working Hours: Standard hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM), flexibility required to accommodate client schedules.
Travel Requirements: Frequent travel to customer sites, including extended business trips (more than half the month), sometimes exceeding one month.

The primary responsibility of this role is to work on a metalizer with additional responsibility for all functional finishing assets including S3, S4, rewinder, sheeter, and lever. Lead machine set-ups and changeovers, problem-solving, coordinating preventative maintenance (PMs), and making decisions on machine adjustments. This role will be B Shift, 2:45pm - 11:00pm.
Starting Hiring Rate: $24.16/hr plus $2/hr shift differential
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Activities and duties may vary depending on specific needs. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:
Loading raw material into the machine and unloading finished product.
Determining and controlling the machine cycle, varying and modifying as necessary to create and maintain a quality product.
Performing tests and checking product routinely for multiple characteristics, using standard measuring devices and making some judgments against standards that are not readily measurable.
Housekeeping of the asset and to maintain quality products.
Machine setup of wire, boats and other areas need to be performed on the equipment.
Meeting production schedules and programming production sequences for optimal productivity.
Following standard operating procedures and specifications or instructions of higher level technical personnel. Monitoring meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications.
Maintaining production records and logs of equipment and product performance.
Following all health, safety and housekeeping procedures, policies and practices. Consistently working in a safe manner with regard to self, co-workers and manufacturing systems.
Supporting safety, quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
Teamwork: Assisting and supporting other team members in meeting department and site goals including Finishing assets in the department. Participating and sharing in performing all tasks necessary to run the facility. Contributing and participating in team decision making. Providing support in project work and other special requests.
Working short notice overtime to meet the business demand on the metalizer asset.
You must be able to obtain a Lift Truck Operator's license and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must become lift truck certified

Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience.
Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

Identify the orientation and polarity of components in reference to the printed circuit board for thru-hole.
Ability to read assembly drawings and utilize a Bill of Materials to identify customer part numbers for assembly.
Verify thru-hole part values and correct part location placement.
Basic understanding of the IPC-A-610 Class 2 standards.
Utilize basic equipment necessary to complete the product's final assembly, including hot glue, clipping, masking, etc., as needed.

Under the direction of the team leader the robot operator will be assigned to run jobs that do not require the skill of mig welding however the operator must be able to identify defects in weld quality with training.
The robot operator must be able to drive a walk behind forklift and move material around the department.
Must be able to use hand tools like grinders, dyna files and general tools that are necessary to remove weld berries and to perform other general labor operations in the department.
The operator must be able to package and label parts according to work instructions and perform labor reporting through the manufacturing information system.
Must maintain a safe, clean, orderly and hazard-free work area, promote safety at all times and have knowledge of all safety rules, seeing that all work is done in a safe manner.
Must comply with Wayne Metals, LLC quality system requirements, defect/error prevention and waste reduction. Will be required to do quality checks. Will be trained and use SPC systems in place for production operations.
