Paraeducator - Registered Behavior Technician in Training (2025-2026 School Year) - (25000115) Description JOB DESCRIPTION Job Summary: The RBT is a credentialed instructional assistant who practices under the close, ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and classroom teacher. The RBT is responsible for providing educational instruction to assigned individuals in a structured classroom environment designed to promote intellectual, behavioral, emotional, and social growth. The RBT is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of skill-acquisition and behavior-reduction plans developed by the supervisor/teacher/program behavior analyst. The RBT may also collect data and conduct certain types of assessments directed by the teacher/supervisor/behavior analyst. He or she will assist in implementing individualized programs that are appropriate to the populations served, specifically children and adolescents (ages 5-21 years) with special education needs. The RBT will typically be assigned to a classroom or with an individual student, but may be required to work with individuals from other classrooms, as assigned by supervisors. He/She will be a leader and will provide oversight of the clinic staff when the BCBA is not present. Essential Functions: Work 1:1 with children and young adults with autism by applying and implementing behavior analytical techniques that increase communication, self-help, and social and play skills under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst Utilize positive reinforcement and antecedent modification to increase appropriate behaviors over time Use the appropriate/prescribed ratio of reinforcement for each client Assist in the development and maintenance of instructional materials Maintain accurate records of client performance/progress via data collection and/or clinical notes through an online and paper data collection system Manage any inappropriate behaviors that occur Keep clients motivated to learn through preference assessments Communicate confidentially and professionally with behavior analysts, teachers, parents, and principals Respond appropriately to feedback and/or correction Report concerns directly and promptly to your supervising BCBA Toilet training and diaper changing may be required Other duties as assigned Education, Experience and Skills: Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred Experience/strong interest in working with children with autism or other developmental disabilities 18 years of age or older First Aid/CPR certification is required Ability to change one's own behavior as directed by the BCBA Ability to communicate effectively with others Be willing to learn and grow as a Behavior Technician Must have availability from 8:00am-6:30pm on weekdays Must be able to work 2 Saturday/year Must have reliable transportation to travel to clinic Must be able to pass a state and FBI background check, child abuse clearance and drug screen Have knowledge of use of modern technology, i.e. PC, Mac, iPad or other tablets.
