This role involves direct supervision, behavior management and crisis intervention. The Youth Care Worker collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to create a safe, supportive environment for the adolescents. In addition, you will be:
* Cultivates a meaningful relationship with each client in residence while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
* Assists with therapeutic groups under the direction of the Adolescent Residential Treatment Counselor.
* Participates in client care conferences.
* Completes documentation that meets current standards and policies.
* Ensures that sufficient time is structured into each day for the completion of homework or school assignments.
* Accompanies the clients to medical and dental appointments, providing support and explaining procedures in understandable terms. Escorts clients when leaving the unit for activities and scheduled appointments.
* Works professionally with families, referral workers, and other community contacts.
* Other duties as assigned.

You can work as much or as little as you like as an On-Demand TM and your schedule may vary depending on shift availability and store needs. This role is ideal for those that are looking for a personalized work schedule.
As an On-Demand TM you will not be included on the posted weekly schedule, but rather will have the opportunity to create your own schedule by picking up shifts posted by leaders or other team members (via our my Time mobile scheduling app) that work best with your schedule.
We require your active engagement by picking up and working shifts as well as responding to our attempts at contact.
We will contact you throughout the year (via your provided contact information) and confirm your interest in working shifts at Target. If we do not receive a response to our communication attempts, your employment with Target will be administratively terminated.
Regular attendance is necessary and we require your active engagement by picking up and working shifts once every 4 weeks (minimum of four hours). Flexibility can be granted if you are unable to work once every 4 weeks due to a personal circumstance, but you are required to respond to our attempts to contact you to confirm your interest in working shifts at Target. You must work at least one shift within 6 months or you will be administratively terminated. Effective December 2024, you must work at least one shift within 5 months or you will be administratively terminated.

Service Schedule
The Academic Advocates' scheduled hours may fluctuate based on Teen Programming scheduled throughout the year. Typical schedule: Mon - Thurs: Serve flexibly between the hours of 9am - 8pm, with most hours being served during the 10am - 6pm timeframe, with one day from 12pm to 8pm; Friday: 9am - 5pm; Opportunities for weekend hours or special events may become available during the year.
Example schedule for illustrative purposes:
* Monday: 10am - 6pm
* Tuesday: 12pm - 8pm
* Wednesday: 9pm - 5pm
* Thursday: 10pm - 6pm
* Friday: 9am - 5pm
* Saturday: Off
* Sunday: Off
Leave: Sick leave, personal leave, and holiday leave is allowed, but such time off does not count towards the required number of hours needed to successfully complete the term of service. There are additional benefits offered if the member has a compelling personal circumstance.
Disaster Deployments: Member who opt-in to be engaged in disaster deployment/activities will need to ensure availability for the term of the disaster deployments, generally 2-4 weeks. Make plans for pets, family members, other employment and responsibilities that need regular attention.
Evaluations and Alternative Service
AmeriCorps Members are required by the program to complete Self-Evaluations.
End-Term Evaluations: Upon the completion of their AmeriCorps Contract, all members will complete an End-Term Evaluation through AmericaLearns. The End-Term Evaluation must be completed, signed, and submitted to the AmeriCorps Program within 30 days of the member's final date of service. Non-submission of this document within the 30-day timeframe will lead to the member being exited for cause (see section 9 of the Member Service Agreement) and will forfeit the member's right to the Education Award.

POSITION SUMMARY: Certified lifeguards are key to the safety of campers and staff during aquatic activities at camp. In addition to being cabin counselors, Aquatics Program Counselors work shifts at the pool and the waterfront making sure campers and staff are following the rules so they can have a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience.

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
Live in a cabin with a co-counselor and 8 campers, and provide active supervision and attention to the physical and emotional wellbeing of campers during all on-duty hours.
Communicate and enforce all aquatics policies and procedures with staff and campers at the pool and waterfront.
Actively guard and scan the water during aquatic activities, refraining from socialization while on duty.
Step in as a substitute to lead aquatics programs, such as canoeing and kayaking.
Communicate with co-counselor and supervisor appropriately to balance responsibilities as a lifeguard with responsibilities as a cabin counselor.
Actively participate in camp programming outside of aquatic activities including evening activities, camper choice time, bus duty, and more.

The mental and physical requirements and work environment conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Staff are required to actively participate in all camper activities, including water related activities.

Staff must be able to eat family style meals in a dining hall for 3 meals a day. Sample menus available upon request. With pre-summer notice, the kitchen can accommodate most medical or value-based dietary restrictions.
Position requires working weekends and nights, with time off in between camp sessions. Camp days are often long and at times require late night camper support, especially for Leadership Team Members and Health Staff. Staff will have daily scheduled breaks. Staff will have a combination of work and on call hours for up to 22 hours a day for several consecutive days.
Staff must be able to reside in shared housing on the LVC overnight camp property in Boscobel, WI starting with staff training in June and ending after the last camp program lets out in mid-August.
Staff must be able to live and sleep in housing with campers. Cabins have electricity, but no plumbing. Staff and campers are required to use communal bath houses located within the village.

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide experiences for campers to be more comfortable in nature as well as provide educational activities to increase knowledge of the natural world around them. BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
Live in a cabin with a co-counselor and 8 campers, and provide active supervision and attention to the physical and emotional wellbeing of campers during all on-duty hours.
Provide age and ability appropriate activities focusing on nature, ecology, and sustainability and conservation.
Complete participation notes and attendance notes daily for all campers who attended nature activities.

The mental and physical requirements and work environment conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

Staff must be able to sleep in a tent outdoors.

Staff must be able to reside in shared housing on the LVC overnight camp property in Boscobel, WI starting with staff training in June and ending after the last camp program lets out in mid-August.
Staff must be able to live and sleep in housing with campers. Cabins have electricity, but no plumbing. Staff and campers are required to use communal bath houses located within the village.

* Counsels patient and family/caregivers as needed in relationship to stress, and other identified coping difficulties. Provides crisis intervention when necessary.

* Ensures the initial bereavement assessment is completed or assigned to appropriate team member in a timely manner.
* Assists Chaplain in making condolence call to bereaved as needed.
* Assists with maintaining, organizing, and updating bereavement support group schedule.
* Assists family and patient in planning funeral arrangements, financial, legal, and health care decision responsibilities.
* Responsible for maintaining compliance with all HIPAA regulations and requirements. Treats all patient information as confidential and utilizes protected health information on a minimum necessary basis.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Team Building Program Counselor is responsible for overseeing all activities and operations at the Low Ropes course as well providing relationship and team building activities for cabins during scheduled activity times. The main objective of the team building program is to help campers build trust, deepen relationships, and learn collaboration and conflict resolution skills through group challenges.
POSITION AVAILABILITY:
This role begins with a required orientation beginning sometime on the week of June 8 (exact start date TBD), ending on June 18. Camp session dates are as follows:
Session 1: June 21-July 2
Session 2: July 5-16
Session 3: July 19-30
Teen Camp and Camp Clean-up: August 2-7
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
Live in a cabin with a co-counselor and 8 campers, and provide active supervision and attention to the physical and emotional wellbeing of campers during all on-duty hours.
Communicate and enforce all safety policies and procedures with staff, campers, and LTs at the Low Ropes course.
Provide age and ability appropriate team building activities to campers ages 8-17.
Complete participation notes and attendance notes daily for all campers who participate in team-building activities.
Communicate with co-counselor and supervisor appropriately to balance responsibilities as a program instructor with responsibilities as a cabin counselor.
Actively participate in camp life and programming including evening activities, camper choice time, theme days, bus duty, and more.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is compensated at a rate of $700 per week, pre-tax.
Summer seasonal staff are paid on a bi-weekly basis and are classified as exempt, seasonal employees.
All meals are provided during camp sessions.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS
The mental and physical requirements and work environment conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Staff are required to actively participate in all camper activities, including water related activities.
Staff must be ready for new experiences and maintain a consistent level of energy all summer long.
Position requires standing, stooping, sitting, walking long distances on uneven terrain (5+ miles a day), and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds with or without assistance.
Camp activities are often loud, involving many people talking, yelling, cheering, etc., in indoor and outdoor settings.
The camp environment is often hot, rainy, with bugs or other wildlife. Staff must be able to work outside in a nature setting for sustained periods of time without air conditioning.
All PEAK Initiative properties, including Lake Valley Camp and the Milwaukee Program Center, are substance-free environments. Smoking, vaping, alcohol consumption, and the use of illicit drugs are strictly prohibited on all property regardless of whether or not staff are on break.
Staff must be able to walk and perform activities in the dark in an outdoor, nature setting.
Staff must be able to sleep in a tent outdoors.
Staff must be able to eat in a dining hall setting with 100+ people. The dining hall will be very busy and very noisy during these times and staff are expected to supervise and sit with their cabins throughout the meals.
Staff must be able to eat family style meals in a dining hall for 3 meals a day. Sample menus available upon request. With pre-summer notice, the kitchen can accommodate most medical or value-based dietary restrictions.
Position requires working weekends and nights, with time off in between camp sessions. Camp days are often long and at times require late night camper support, especially for Leadership Team Members and Health Staff. Staff will have daily scheduled breaks. Staff will have a combination of work and on call hours for up to 22 hours a day for several consecutive days.
Staff must be able to reside in shared housing on the LVC overnight camp property in Boscobel, WI starting with staff training in June and ending after the last camp program lets out in mid-August.
Staff must be able to live and sleep in housing with campers. Cabins have electricity, but no plumbing. Staff and campers are required to use communal bath houses located within the village.
