About You:
Previous bartending and Food & Beverage experience is required.
Flexible availability to work evenings and weekends and in indoor/outdoor environments.
Working knowledge of bar-related beverages, spirits, wine, and beer.
Working knowledge of the most common cocktails, mixed drinks, and specialty drinks.
Alcohol and food safety awareness certificate.
Excellent communication skills and articulate speech. Ability to follow instructions well.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Bartender Job 30 miles from Joliet
The Bartender is responsible for providing libations and offering customized recommendations. The right person should be familiar with the latest in mixology, bar equipment, and is passionate about providing superb hospitality to both our guests and our community. We require you to be organized and quick on your feet while working effectively under pressure with a smile. To be a successful Vela Bartender, you should be well-organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Ultimately, an outstanding bartender should demonstrate effective communication skills and achieve excellent customer service at all times.
Essential Job Functions
Complete opening side work as directed by restaurant management.
Greet customers immediately with a smile and present beverage menus.
Make recommendations and answer all menu inquiries.
Check identification of all customers who appear under 21 to verify they are of legal drinking age prior to serving them.
Take orders from customers, ensuring 100% accuracy when entering orders into POS prior to delivering the order to the customer.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with standard recipes.
Peel, slice, and pit fruit for garnishing beverages, following company standards.
Follow responsible alcohol service guidelines, as outlined by the Employee Handbook.
Process transactions using the POS system; Prepare checks for guests and process payments.
Maintain proper loss prevention standards including cash handling procedures.
Maintain organization and aesthetic appeal of the bar counter and displays.
Complete closing side work as directed by Management, including cleaning the bar and securing all alcoholic products.
Maintain sanitation to Department of Health standards; Keep work areas clean and organized.
Inform Manager on Duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations.
Inform Management of any product or supply needs.
Update knowledge and skills continually by participating in staff training opportunities.
Required Skills/Qualifications
Minimum of 2+ years experience in similar capacity.
Thrive in a fast-paced, high volume environment, and maintain a calm demeanor while quickly and effectively solving problems.
Must be hospitable, approachable, and passionate about guest service and respectful towards colleagues and guests.
Must be able to demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule.
Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Ability to take direction, work in a team environment autonomously.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands.
Must be able to make periodical fast paced movements and move throughout the venue with ease.
Must be able to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 20lbs.
Must be able to occasionally kneel, bend, crouch, and climb as required.
Must be able to perform physical activities such as lifting, cleaning, and stooping.
Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for long periods of time.
