Thus we were born. 12 years later, we're still here - and constantly working on ways to serve our community better. Position Summary: The BLOC Coffee Company is part of BLOC Ministries. BlOC Coffee Company is opening a location in Metzcor. The barista will be responsible for the day to day operations of BLOC Coffee Company and building relationships with customers. Key Areas of Responsibility: Prepares quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. Also, follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products. Prepares breakfast and lunch items on the grill and pizzas on Fridays Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to standard, and set a positive example for the team. Maintains regular and punctual attendance. Follows operational policies and procedures, including safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift. Delivers legendary customer service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude by building relationships and connecting with the customer. Discovers and responds to customer needs in a timely manner. Requirements: Lift and carry boxes, books, and other merchandise. Ability to stand for up to two or more hours at any given time. Ability to safely operate coffee equipment as necessary Previous experience in a coffee shop, café environment a plus Detail-orientation in performing accurate transactions Self-motivated and multi-tasks with minimal supervision Proactively meets both internal and external customer needs. Opens and closes outlets in accordance with established procedure to ensure sanitation and to protect company assets. Communicates closely with Lead Barista on all operating issues. Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of specialty coffee/snack bar operations. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, as well as all levels of employees. Must be able to distinguish between different denominations of currency and make change. Must be able to review and comprehend all necessary documentation. Ability to effectively and efficiently move around food service area. Machines and equipment used, but not limited to, include cash register, coffee machine, espresso machine, coffee grinder, grill, fryer, waffle iron, panini press, and Turbo Chef. At times subjected to hazards such as wet floors and hot grease. Must be able to obtain and maintain all appropriate licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations. Must be at least 18 years of age. The skills are typically acquired through on-the-job experience in specialty coffee, snack bar or similar food facility.
