SUMMARY OF POSITION
Prepare bakery items according to company policies, procedures, programs and performance standards. Responsible for helping to maintain food costs and maintain cleanliness of the kitchen at all times. Bake - Prepare bakery items according to Perkins standards and specifications. Label and date all trays of baked items. Observe proper food storage procedures. Ensures high standards of food safety.
Display - Set up and maintain the display cases. Use proper merchandising display techniques. Work with Host and Cashier to set up samples, holiday packaging and merchandising.
Clean - Follow proper sanitation procedures in the kitchen, walk-ins and dry storage areas. Keep bakery prep and storage areas clean and organized. Clean and sanitize bakery cases and display items. The Baker is responsible for the cleaning and sanitation of all bakery equipment, pans and utensils. Controls Food Cost
Ensures products are accurately portioned and ensures food products are prepared as specified by recipes.
Utilizes FIFO (first in first out) standards when preparing items.
Maintains Cleanliness
Maintains cleanliness of the kitchen, prep areas, coolers and storage areas
Follows proper safety procedures and policies concerning food handling, rotation and storage
Conducts line sweeps throughout the shift
“Clean as you go” throughout the shift
Understands OSHA requirements and health department standards
Cleans all equipment on line and other areas as directed by the Kitchen manager or Manager on duty.
Anticipates, identifies and corrects system breakdowns to achieve maximum guest satisfaction.
Communicates with Manager on Duty and coworkers regarding product/service deficiencies, equipment, safety problems. Etc.

Rotate products to keep older product in front and stock cases and sale tables, making sure each package is correctly labeled and there are no empty spaces; rotate cakes to keep oldest in back
Keep sale tables and showcases organized, visually pleasing, and clean
Be the final line for quality control: look for packaging issues, sell-by dates, and be vigilant about quality and presentation of all products put into the case
Assist Bakers/Decorators/Porter as needed
Set up cookies and muffins for baking
If assigned, finish cakes and donuts for display
If assigned, produce single-serve items such as parfaits and pudding cups
If assigned, write on cakes
If assigned, finish off donuts
Receive deliveries; check delivery ticket against what was ordered and product received
Make apple cider donuts
Clean dishes and equipment used and put them away once dry
Clean cases, including wiping shelves and keeping glass clean at all times
Keep all areas of the department clean and organized, including sales floor, counter, cases, coolers, preparation, and production areas
When a customer needs assistance, give the customer priority over the task at hand
Physical Requirements:
Consistently lift and move 50 pounds
Stand for duration of shift
Climb up and down a stepstool, stepladder, and ladder
Use hands, wrists, fingers and arms for duration of shift
Safely operate bread slicer, donut machine, box cutter, and all other equipment necessary to run the department
Use the compactor and cardboard crusher for disposing of garbage and recycling
Qualifications:
Communicate clearly with customers and co-workers
Employees are our internal customers; treat them with the same courtesy and respect as our external customers
Must work efficiently and at a productive pace per department needs
Must be able to work scheduled shift
Follow all department safety policies and procedures
Be able to concentrate on tasks in order to avoid injury and waste of product
Be knowledgeable about Adams product- recommend ideas to customers by exploring customer preferences and advocating Adams product
