1929

In 1929, a second hardware store was opened in downtown Birmingham.

1965

In 1965 the Ford Division moved from the hardware store in downtown Bessemer to a separate location on the Bessemer Super Highway.

1981

The story of Christian Brothers Automotive begins in 1981.

1982

In August 1982, Mission Bend, Texas was the site of the very first Christian Brothers Automotive repair facility.

In 1982 the Bessemer site of Long-Lewis™ Hardware Company closed for good.

1989

The most expensive Cadillac of 1989, built in both Turin and Hamtramck

1996

In 1996 Vaughn Burrell agreed to a partnership with, long-time, valued employee, Todd Ouellette in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

Another turning point, however, came in 1996: A friend came to Mark for help with opening his own automotive repair shop.

2001

By 2001, Christian Brothers Automotive—with 17 total locations—had even grown outside of Texas with new facilities in Oklahoma, Georgia, and Tennessee.

2013

In 2013, the Ouellette family formed The Long-Lewis Foundation, a privately funded foundation setup to support local evangelical causes and to help those less fortunate in the community.

2019

After 38 years of business, Christian Brothers Automotive celebrated its 200th location in 2019.

2020

In 2020 the Burrell family sold the Birmingham dealership to Todd.
