About the Role
Direct Counsel is seeking a High Tech Intellectual Property Associate to join a prestigious Am Law 100 firm in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 6 years of experience and a background in electrical/computer engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a similar field. Patent litigation experience is preferred. Candidates must have superior academic credentials and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
Handle complex intellectual property matters, with a focus on high-tech patents.
Work on patent litigation cases, assisting in case strategy, drafting motions, and conducting legal research.
Collaborate with engineering and technology experts to analyze patent claims.
Represent clients in high-stakes IP disputes and enforcement actions.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school (Class of 2019 to 2023).
Background in electrical/computer engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field.
Patent litigation experience preferred.
Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $235,000 - $390,000 (for JD classes 2019-2023). Actual salary may vary based on experience and qualifications.

The ideal candidate will be JD class of 2022-2019.
The group would like to see an associate with trade remedies experience, specifically an associate who has firm experience handling AD/CVD work.
Government experience is a plus but they absolutely need firm experience too so that they can step in pretty quickly into the firm environment advising clients as needed.
The trade team advises in the following areas: export controls, sanctions, and trade remedies (antidumping/CVD trade law and/or investigations).
