We are currently seeking a Labor & Employment Lawyer to have national responsibility for advice, counsel, and litigation management in the exciting world of emergency medical services.
This Labor & Employment Attorney will spend their time between employment law counsel, employment litigation, and labor relations. This role has a special knowledge and focus on wage and hour law, application of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), ADA and accommodations, leave, and the unique workgroups and CBAs across GMR. No two days will look the same for this Attorney, and they're excited to join this important and impactful space.
Responsibilities
Work with and advise human resources, business partners, and other functional teams regarding traditional labor and employment-related issues across the country.
Communicate efficiently and effectively with all levels directly, as well as providing guidance and practical solutions for various corporate initiatives.
Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal business partners and stakeholders.
Stays current with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Provides practical, compliant, and strategic legal advice and counsel on a full range of employment law issues, including issues arising under the FMLA, ADA, ADEA, Title VII, USERRA, OSHA, WARN, and other federal, state, and local employment laws.
Conducts legal research on a wide range of labor and employment law topics.
Manages and partners with outside counsel in sophisticated litigation matters in a strategic and cost-effective manner.
Assists other Departments of the Company in reviewing legal issues, including personnel, employee relations, and labor relations issues
Delivers training and direction to Leaders throughout the Company on employment law and compliance matters
Effectively prioritizes and manages concurrent projects with competing Company demands
Heavy case Load management.
Lead and advise on cross-functional projects and support legal and business operations as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
4-7 years of experience counseling clients on employment and labor law issues, conducting investigations, drafting responses to administrative charges, handling reductions in force, and developing and implementing employment handbooks, policies and procedures.
Awareness of new or pending federal and state legislation, rules and regulations and industry developments and trends.
Experience working independently and cross-functionally.
Experience taking on complex projects.
