Job Description: Petting Zoo Attendant (Part-Time) DEPARTMENT: Zoo Education SHIFT: Maximum 24 hours per week on a schedule requiring a mix of weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays as required. REPORTS TO: Volunteer Coordinator SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Volunteer Coordinator, performs scientific work in the care of zoo animals and the maintenance of zoo exhibits and facilities. Participates in the aesthetics and maintenance of the various exhibits and participates with guest interactions. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reports any abnormal animal behavior or issues to the animal care supervisor. Cleans (disinfects as scheduled) and checks integrity of animal exhibits and structures daily to ensure safety and welfare of animals, guests, and staff in accordance with established guidelines. Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance to exhibits, reports maintenance concerns they can not be easily addressed to the manager, makes recommendations to improve the safety, aesthetics, and functionality of facilities; assists in the completion of approved changes. Thoroughly cleans feed troughs, bowls, and other containers; unloads and replenishes hay; unloads food shipments. Assists in the presentation of educational programs and participates in daily guest interactions. This may include sloth experiences, giraffe feedings, birthday parties or field trips. Performs other duties as assigned. Occasionally assistance may be needed outside of the Animal Care Department. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Education and Work Experience: Actively pursuing a degree in a relatable field to animal care or one year's experience in another zoo, vet clinic or similar profession preferred. Manually enters information on State Project loads that can't be programmed into the loading system data base. Insures that cross contamination of product does not occur in tanker trailers. Notifies lab of trucks entering the plant that require sampling. Submits a daily pipeline report consisting of Plains and Hunt pipeline information, Tank 25001 receipts and deliveries, LSR, DFS and Naphtha shipments. Maintains a daily rain gauge log and notifies proper personnel if substantial rainfall occurs. Responsible for contacting personnel in the event of an emergency at the refinery and maintains records accordingly. Maintains staging area for emergency vehicles. Tool Room Attendant Classification: non-exempt Salary: Department: Maintenance Reports to Maintenance Manager The Tool Room Attendant will oversee the organization, record keeping and housekeeping of the tool room. Essential Functions of Position Duties: Oversee all organization of the parts room to include record keeping, housekeeping and inventory control. Maintains inventory database for parts.
