Operates hoisting gear to lift heavy objects and placement, removal, and maintenance of navigation aids. Assists in the proper storage of boats and equipment. Assists in the operation of patrol and work boats of varied sizes. Stores fuel; uses and stores life preservers, fire extinguishers, and flares; handles and stores lines (ropes) and anchors. Cleans and ventilates bilges. Prepares basic reports. Preferred Skill Set Knowledge of the operation, servicing, cleaning, and maintenance of patrol boats and motors. • Ability to learn to assist in the marking and maintenance of coastal waters, inland waterways, and lakes. • Ability to properly use and store boats and related materials and equipment. • Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
