Job Summary
The Division of Marine Science (DMS) in the School of Ocean Science and Engineering (SOSE) at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites qualified applicants for a full-time position overseeing the hydrographic science programs. The successful candidate will serve as Program Coordinator and Instructor or Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor if they hold a terminal (PhD) degree. The preferable start date is Fall 2025. Salary packages are nationally competitive and will be commensurate with experience.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
* The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, executing, and continuously developing comprehensive academic programs in hydrography that meet International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) standards. This includes working closely with US Navy partners for the joint MS program and collaborating with faculty members delivering the undergraduate and graduate programs.
* The undergraduate (Category-B IHO certified) program is a four-year curriculum leading to bachelor's degree in hydrography. The graduate (Category-A IHO certified) program is an intensive curriculum with significant classroom coursework, field exercises, and a capstone project. Expectations for external coordination include annual reporting to the Internal Bureau on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers (IBSC), resubmission of the Category-A and Category-B programs to the IBSC for recertification every 6 years, annual financial reporting to the IHO on the capacity building efforts, coordination of the educational partnership agreement with the U.S. Navy, and providing annual program assessments to the university.
* The candidate is expected to pursue grant funding to enhance program capabilities, such as acquiring new hydrographic surveying equipment, and may participate in research activities with the Hydrographic Science Research Center. However, the primary focus of this position is program coordination and teaching.

The DMS graduate programs are delivered at the NASA Stennis Space Center, where Marine Science faculty benefit from close working relationships with a number of on-site federal agencies, including the Naval Research Laboratory-Stennis Space Center, the Naval Oceanographic Office, the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command, and NOAA's National Data Buoy Center and National Centers for Environmental Information.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will also be required to pass a NASA background security check in order to work at Stennis Space Center, and a USM employment background check.

Job Summary
The Division of Coastal Sciences (COA) in the School of Ocean Science and Engineering (SOSE) at The University of Southern Mississippi qualified applicants for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in Ecotoxicology at the Assistant Professor level, to begin in Fall 2025. Evaluation of applications will consider the potential of candidates to develop collaboration with other USM academic units including the Division of Marine Science. The standard distribution of effort for tenure-track faculty members in COA is 70% research, 20% teaching, and 10% service (pre-tenure).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
We seek a broadly trained scientist with a focus on aquatic ecotoxicology who investigates questions related to organismal responses to current and future anthropogenic stressors. Potential areas of research include but are not limited to environmental toxicology; multi-stressor research; ecophysiology; organismal responses to harmful algal blooms; physiological, molecular, and biochemical responses to contaminants (e.g., plastics, chemical/biochemical, metals); and the use of non-mammalian model organisms. The successful candidate will be expected to use a state-of-the-art 11,000 ft2 toxicology building capable of producing 0-30 salinities with 10-part filtration systems, capable of conducting many controlled experiments. The candidate will be expected to:
* Develop a strong, nationally recognized and externally funded research program;
* Publish in peer-reviewed literature;
* Mentor graduate students and undergraduate students;
* Participate in graduate and undergraduate instruction in COA and SOSE;
* Engage in service activates to COA, SOSE, and USM;
